Hi Carl
Just a quick message to say I am thinking of you and wishing you good luck with your op tomorrow. You are in very safe hands, I trust Mr H with my life, he is a fantastic surgeon.
Keep us posted with your recovery, and any questions you have I will be glad to answer if I can.
Hope all goes well for you...see you on the other side.

Hi Cheryl,
Great holiday thanks... all tanned!! well not ALL tanned but you know....
Yep you read it right 2.5 years total wait. However I did have a BIG falling out with Mr H, and he basically told me to **** *** and find someone else to do the op. But we've made up now, and i can confidently state that until i come around from the anaesthetic, hes my best friend in the world. lol.
Things really seem to be speeding along now at the UCLH and waiting lists are right down.
I went out today to stock up on the WW soups and Muller Lights, although I have only been told i need to do it for two weeks. Mr H says if my BMI is not down enough he might do the "sleeve" first then the bypass later if required. So at the moment (starting today) im doing one day liquids, and one day liquids with a small healthy sandwich or someting. Thats until the 9th which is when it all goes liquid.... how did you cope?
had my pre op meeting with Mr H yesterday, all went well and will be phoning Alice weekly with a weight report.
I wish you all the best for your procedure over the next few days... and rumour has it all of the beds have internet access in the bed units so you could keep me posted with the gory details.... but make sure you rest and get better slowly... no rush!!
Good luck
Carl.

Hi Carl
Hope you had a good hols with family...now to face the music eh?
I have now met Alice Pre Op nurse and had the final tests.
So now I have my date.....Friday 4th July 08......need to be admitted on the Wednesday 2nd though, due to needing an IVC filter inserted into my main artery (neck) to collect any possible blood clots....that might kill me...ah?
Good luck with yours, are you doing the pre op diet (4 muller lights and 4 WW soups?) WOW.....what a diet......so tough cooking and then watching my family (hubby and 2 kids) stuff their faces...I have started to drool at the table now...its not good and its not clever...but a price I have to pay.
Good luck my friend

Hiya,
So pleased you have a date..wooohoooo. 24th July eh? I can imagine your emotions are all over the place.
My good friend Delia (Bianco) had her op ( RNY Gastric Bypass) yesterday with Mr H, all went well, she is in ICU at the moment, which is the norm apparently. She had to do the pre-op diet for 5 weeks (just WW soup and Muller light yogurts) she hated the diet, goes without saying I know, but for 5 weeks? How long will you have to do the diet for? Dont tell me you are already doing it and have to continue until 24/7/08?? I think I would die.
Update with my op....well, have seen dietician Nicola, had the psychiatric profile with Lisa McClelland, had a doppler scan in March, and next appt is Monday 9th June to see Mr H and Alice (who is pre-op nurse just taken over from Louise) have only spoke with Alice so far.
I did write a blog (My Life leading up to bypass) but cant seem to add to it? Must be a way, will have to give it more thought.
Do you know how long the op takes?
Keep us posted UK developer. I am keen to find a support group in my area, Essex, but havent found one yet. Delia has been to a few in London, there is one at the UCLH on a Wednesday at 5.30pm, dont know how often though. If you ring Elizabeth, tel no 0207 380 6824, Mr Hashemis PA, she is always helpful, she might be able to point you in the right direction.
How long have you been waiting for surgery. Did I read in your profile 2 years? or am I dreaming? If so, was the 2 years down to the hospital or you? I first saw Mr H mid November 07, feels like I have been waiting forever.
What area are you from?
Keep us posted. We are all here to give support....
Best wishes
Cheryl

Hi Carl,
I did send you mail in February but didnt hear back form you!! Maybe you didnt receive it.
How are you? Are you any further on with booking surgery? I am a patient of Mr Hashemi, and hope to have a gastric bypass in the summer.
I have had a meeting with the dietician. Also, had the doppler scan which was required due to history of blood clots. I am now just waiting on the last test/appointment of having a pyschiatric profile which is booked for 21st May, with a follow up appointment in clinic to see Mr H on 2nd June (I really hope by then I will be well on my way to going on the pre op diet (which is just soup I think - no chocolate then???)
I would be interested in knowing how you are getting on, especially as you are also a patient of Mr H
