Hi Tammy, how are things with you? Well as for me I'm doing just fine. I 'm starting on regular foods now (crab, tuna, chili and such) and it's been going well. I haven't weighed myself since my 2 week check up because I don't want to get to obsessed with weighing, but at exactly 1 month I am going to weigh again. Good to hear from you and keep me posted on you as well and let me know how things are with you.

Hi Tammy! Thanks for checking up on me. I'm doing well though still a little bit sore from my last surgery. Everything looks good though and I had the stitches out last Thursday. I had a really busy week at work this past week so I haven't been on much. I work the evening shift so I don't check the forum until after I get home from work at midnight. We had a really bad burn patient this week so I was putting in extra hours.

So how is your pre op diet going? You keeping away from that diet DP and cigarettes? I'm so glad I wasn't a smoker or a diet pop drinker before surgery. My 2 week pre op diet was just about all I could handle!! *L* I give you a lot of credit lady. What you are doing can't be easy for you. Hang in there. It really is all worth it.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first in person support group meeting. A small group really is the nicest. The one my surgeon's office has is quite large which can be really intimidating for some people. My own group, that I lead, ranges from about 6-12 people so its a nice size group.

Well have a great Mother's Day tomorrow. Until later.

    Beth

I think I have all my tests done now. That upper GI was pure NASTYNESS though! I'm going for the RNY but still don't have a date set yet. I'm still hoping that it will be within the next month!

Hiya Tammy!! All I have done so far is go to the seminar at Centennial. I am waiting on my Doctor to send medical files to them, so they can send to insurance. I know my insurance covers the procedure because 3 or 4 people where I work has had it done this last year. At first I was looking into the lap band procedure, but I have a substantial amount of weight to lose (140 lbs). Also, I'm not very patient and afraid I will get discouraged with the slower weight loss of lap band, and plus the ability to cheat with the lap band. What made you choose Vanderbilt? I chose Dr Dyer and Centennial because of the other women at the office that had went with him, and Centennials program seems to be top notch. So are you looking to have surgery in June? I figure mine wont be until august. Are you going to attend any of the support group meetings in BG? I think they have one the 3rd thursday of each month at the mall. How much weight are you wanting to lose? Keep in touch, it's nice having people close to home to talk too. I work in BG so maybe we will get to meet.

Good evening, Tammy! My surgery went well and I am happy with the results. I'm a little sore but the Vicodan is helping and still kinda tired. I felt pretty good today until I decided to go grocery shopping. I came home exhausted. Its amazing how even a fairly small surgery can still wipe you out. I don't know too many people who have had the lapband. I know there are several in my surgical support group, at home, who have had it but not many. I do have a fairly good knowledge base about it though. I'm a support group leader at home and I try to get as much knowledge as possible in regards to the different wls. Thanks for the message. I was nice to hear from you. ...and thanks for the thoughts.

Hi Tammy, your welcome. I enjoy talking with everyone on this forum. I also hope you get your date soon. You have chosen what surgery is right for you. You are not a big weenie. At about 2 weeks before surgery I was having serious doubts and nerves I almost didn't go through with it but I decided it was what was best for me to enjoy life with my 3 young children (2 years , and 18 month old twins). They are a handful and keep me going. Please stay in touch.

ahhhhh..there you are!!! . Congratulations on a successful day!! You are doing great and your head seems to be in the right place. I've never been a smoker but watched my husband struggling to quit and I know it isn't easy. I applaud you for taking control of your life and your health. You are a strong woman and you can do this...I'm sure of it. Thanks for your thoughts for me about tomorrow. I must say I'm a wee bit nervous about this because I'm not going to be put out for this surgery. I'm a nurse and usually can handle most things.....but just the thought of being awake gives me the willys!!! *LOL* I know I'll be fine though. I have a wonderful plastic surgeon who I've worked with for years, so I know what kind of surgeon he is and I know he always puts his patients well being first. Keep up the good work!! You are already a success in my eyes.
