I made my first return trip to the surgeons office yesterday. I was looking forward to it despite the long drive. If there is one thing I knew it was that it was time for the staples to come out. I got to the office a bit early and they seemed pretty light on patients. I got in early and got out early. The first part was to get a new line on vitals and of course weight. I was excited to see what I had lost, but when I finally stepped on the scale I was a bit dissapointed. I had lost 14 pounds...

It has been two weeks since I went under the knife, so it is about time I jot down some impressions.
I definitely would not say I planned for the best outcome, but maybe should have set my sights a bit lower on what it would be like immediately post op.
I went in at the butt crack of dawn to get the ball rolling... changed into a lovely hospital gown and took care of the short list of pre op things they had for me to do. I hopped on a scale, got an IV started etc....

I had my Multi-Discipline Day yesterday and I think it is the longest continuous amount of time I have ever spent in a hospital. The day was pretty straight forward:
It was pretty much one appointment after another. I was surprised...
- Meet with family physician that surgeon has hired to handle pre and post op care
- Have EKG
- Meet with Surgeon
- Have about 4 gallons of blood drawn
- Have chest x-ray
- Have Upper GI Study.
- Meet with nutritionist
- Meet wtih Exercise Physiologist.

Got the approval letter today. I don't know what changed between the last submittal and this one, but they changed their minds and I am approved. It is kind of a bummer that I didn't see it until after 5 on a Friday, now I have to wait until Monday to call the surgeons office, but I am pretty stoked they changed their mind!

I got a letter today denying my predetermination from my insurance company. They stated that they did not receive a medical history or notes from my physical with the bariatric surgeon, but they did. I called the surgeons office and their insurance coordinator said she would contact them and re-send the information. I gotta say I am pretty bummed about this. It has been over a year since I started working for this and I was pretty summarily dismissed. I know the insurance company must look...
