Hey! BCBS wants to see a BMI of at least 40 or greater for the previous 4 of 5 years with no comorbids or at least 35 with stuff like HTN, DM, sleep apnea with cpap. Which BC do you have? I might be able to pull up their policy. Also, if they recognize certain centers of excellence, a medical review from the insurance may not even be necessary. if the surgeon thinks you are a candidate, and they are COE, we just apprrove those. keeping my fingers crossed for you. sue

Hi Sue, how are you? Congrats on your success. I noticed that you are an RN, so am I. I am currently waiting for my response from bcbs. I am so nervous. I am wondering what the process is for bcbs to make their decisions. Do they go by certain criteria or what? I am just wondering what my chances are for getting approved. My BMI is 40, and I had back surgery last year. I still suffer from excrutiating back pain, knee pain, and joint pain. I have family history of diabetes, heart disease, CA. I am having symptoms of pre- diabetes. I have chronic plantar facsitis. I am only 29. I am so ready to change my life, and get the weight off. Any advice?
