Sande from SacBariatric runs the support group...there is one every month. They are the Coyle address in Sacramento. I'm assuming you went to their Information Seminar pre-op...it's in the same building across the hall. The Isopure in the bottles are way too sweet for me, ugh! But the chocolate is really , really good. I buy it at GNC but will start buying them at FlexSupplements.com it's ALOT cheaper. But GNC will refund your money if you don't like it...so it's a good way to start and find a good one. I probably average at least 90-100 grams of protein a day. Especially now that I eat the Fage yogurt gets in 20 grams protein easily!
Hope you can make it to a support group sometime I love to talk to people and get their experience post-op.

Hey..WOW, thank you so much for your message. I really appreciate it, you seem very mature for your age. Well, I guess there is nothing we can do if the insurance companies want to give us a hassle, but I will do my best to fight them. I also have blue cross/blue shield. Thank you for your honest perspective on Dr. Machado. I will keep you posted and I hope you'll be a regular contributor to TT. I'd love to hear about your progress and there are some other young folks on her. And, maybe one day we can have a Dr. Machado group... :-)

Are you going to Monday night's support meeting? Sure hope you can make it!
I didn't have any issues with getting my protein in (luckily)...my main protein shake has been the GNC Dutch Chocolate Isopure. Hopefully it will get easier for you once you go onto soft-stage foods. I did yogurt, cottage cheese, some mashed potatoes (even though they do not have protein...), scrambled eggs, and fat-free refried beans. I found a new yoghurt that has since become my favorite stuff!! It's called Fage Greek Yogurt...mix some with Splenda and Orange Rise generic Crystal Lite and stir...an 8 ounce serving gets you 20 grams of protein. Yummy!
Good luck and hope things continue to be smooth sailing for you!

Welcome Aboard!
I think the hardest part is the head issues. There was a time early post-op that I got MAD because food was such a chore! Nothing tasted as good as I remembered. And since I was the only one (since I had the surgery) that had to "monitor" their foods, while everyone else went on with their normal lives. Does that make sense?
So...how are YOU doing? You're very newly post op... you're just beginning your journey, and that is just so exciting! Keep me posted..it's great to know that their are a few of us (Dr.Machado's patients). My best friend had surgery on 4-1-08 with Dr. Machado also.
