I don't know, they said I had a long bypass (1.8m). I honestly think it's to do with my diabetes (which unlike many people hasn't gone away straight after the op - I still have to take pills). I have type 2 diabetes and am very resistant to insulin, so I think when a load of insulin is dumped into my system it doesn't really make much of an impact - hence no dumping symptoms. Hopefully as my diabetes gradually recedes I'll start to feel the effects of insulin more.

I thought you'd had the bypass - but was thinking I must be going mad! Chocolate, crisps - wow - I would have gone nuts if I could eat that so early out (still can't eat chocolate now but crisps are another story!). I don't think I would have had the discipline to stay away from all the 'bad' stuff. Are you finding you can eat high volumes of stuff? Maybe they made your pouch smaller but your intestines longer???

I did have the bypass, not the band. I just find I can eat crisps/chocolate etc much too easily - I don't seem to dump (except so far on heinz tomato soup!). Things like chicken and tofu make me throw-up, but rubbish goes down just fine. Obviously I'm still eating a LOT less than I was pre-op, even on a bad/bingey day I'm probably consuming 1500/1600 cals, but I know I'd be losing quicker if I didn't have these bad days.
Hubby's not away anywhere at the mo, just gone back to work. When he's not deployed he works normal mon-fri hours in camp most of the time. It's been nice having him on leave and helping with Lola, but he does tend to get under my feet bless him, so I'm kinda glad he's back at work. From the end of June he'll be on a 9 month course in Dorset and only coming home at weekends, that'll probably be a bit tougher - but still easier than his 7 months in iraq last year.
Not sure of the date of the next meet yet, but I know a lot of people from the group are planning on going to Nadia's house (Aldershot) in a week or two for her fund-raiser for cancer thingy. Will try and dig out the details in case you're free and can make it. Lis x

Hey Lis. Good to hear that you are doing ok. I'm just trying to wrack my brain - did you have the band instead of the bypass? I'm thinking so otherwise you wouldn't be able to eat the crisps/chocolate etc. Food demons are so hard to fight - it's all very well for someone to sit there and say to you stop eating them but it doesn't really help does it?

Unfortunately I couldn't make it on Saturday as I was working but will be at the next one (not sure when it is but as soon as I know I'll book that day off work).

All going well for me here - managing to pretty much maintain my weight although have picked up 3lbs over the last month or so so have to watch out for that! 3lbs is fine but I guess that can turn into 10 pretty easily! I know what's caused it - carbs - gotta cut back - I didn't have them for over a year and now suddenly I've started having them again - bad bad Shereeks!

Must be loney for you with your hubby gone off again. How long is he away for this time?

    Hiya
Thanks for the message. Haven't been online as much as usual as hubby's been on 3 weeks easter leave, he went back to work today. I'm doing OK. Eating more than I think I should, and still being tempted by things I shouldn't (butter, crisps, chocolate argh), all of which is making my loss slow (but steady). How's u? Didn't see you at Surrey meet on Saturday.

Hi ya. Just wondering how you were getting on? Haven't seen you around in a little while and hope everything is going ok?
