We typically stay at Incline Village and ski at Mount Rose, Alpine Meadows, Northstar. Usually one day, we make a trip over to Truckee just to see the country, brouse the shops, etc.

you are correct, we have a little wind today, but no rain and does not look like we will get any from the Hurricane, forecast for the next few days are mid to upper 90's. I have been doing yard work for the past two days, trying to get things trimmed and mowed just in case we start getting rain, but it appears that it will only be hot and dry for most of the next week.

We were actually in Las Vegas last week, Wednesday thru Saturday, it was certainly hot there, usually 104 to 108 when we were out and about, but because it is so dry, the heat there does not seem as bad as the heat here in San Antonio.

Hope you had a good Labor Day and enjoy the cool weather. Hopefully we will be making a trip to North Lake Tahoe in March for some skiing. I will have to go out and purchase all new ski clothing prior to the trip, nothing I have now will fit any more and I figure I have the opportunity to drop another 15 - 20 lbs before going skiing, so it will be an interesting ski season.

Are you anywhere close to North Lake Tahoe area?

Hi Rebecca, guess what? I got a call on Sat. from the investigator that will be conducting my background. He said that in the next two weeks he should be starting it . Although, I haven't cleared the medical yet...hopefully this week...man, I'm getting nervous already...just the thought of having to leave for 4 months makes me feel that way and thinking whether I'll be able to meet the physical challenges. Anyway, just wanted to update. How are you doing?

On my bean soup I definitely cook up the sausage first. I'll add it when I've got it in that last hour of simmer stage, to release the flavor and make it SUPER soft Sometimes I'll even cook a half-cup of pasta and throw some little shells in there to change it up. My kiddo likes it with pasta. But don't put pasta in it and store it! The pasta soaks up the juices Glad you saw the recipe, I LOVE soups now, when I'm craving the need to eat a lot

    hi, Rebecca!

Sorry for the delayed response..I was recovering..my surgery was on the 14th of July..and had a couple of complications along the way..but, I have to say now I feel 95% better (apart from twinges from the stictches to close up my abdominal wall)..I've lost 33 lbs (from the 14th of July til the 18th-I've not weighed myself this week yet)..not too bad, I guess! I'm a bit impatient to lose more..but my Doc sez as short as I am, probably 2-3lbs a week, realistically..though, "You'd be surprised, you might lose more!" So, I'm thinking positively.

My thoughts are with you, your family & your son..I hope he gets through basic, AIT & all that fun stuff. I'm sending boxes to my guys in Iraq & Afghanistan this week..my bi-monthly care stuff..you gotta love these guys!

    Hope all's well with you.

    take care,

    Stephi
