By the way... forgot to ask...
are there any support groups/meetings in R.I. for gastric bypass patients? Its convenient for me to attend the ones up in Waltham since it's near where I work - but If there was another closer to home it would be great to know about. I noticed on the thinner times site on facebook that there are quite a few members from providence ri also -- so I know there's more of us out there!

I know exactly what you mean about "testing"! All was well w/1st check up - given green light to start on phase 1 for solid foods - to try a couple things over the next 5 days (but of course I've already tried most of them). I should be able to have salad soon - which will be nice to have w/some chicken or tuna. I never thought I'd say that I MISS SALAD!

Got the official weigh in on office scale-- which matched my scale at home (but I've got to stop getting on the scale every morning! I think I definitely need to join the scale whores and ask my husband to hide my scale so that I only weight myself once a week! BP in doctor's office was great (I've cut back to only 1 med - was on 3) -- and I'm no longer on diabetes meds. Hopefully soon I'll be off cholesterol med also! I've never felt so energetic and happy --which is the most important thing!

Yeah when I joined I was like ummm hello? RI'ers where are you....nobody, lol!
But your doing great with weight loss, I think I averaged 20-30lbs. for the first few months. I didn't get sick really either. And it is scary because you tend to "test" yourself more often. Hope all goes well on Wednesday.

Hi - so nice to hear there's someone else from R.I.! Such a small state - I thought for sure I might've been the only one! I'm from Pawtucket (a native of Mass - moved into RI when I met my husband).

I'm wondering if you and your husband had your surgery locally? I work up in Dedham - so I had my surgery at Newton Wellesley Hosp. It's much easier for me to attend the meetings, etc by going directly after work. Hope all is going well for the both of you. For myself, weight loss has been a bit slow - but I haven't really been sick (other than this darn cold that I've been fighting). A little bit too easy it seems at times for me, which makes me nervous. I've lost approx 20 lbs since I had the surgery on 9/8. My next official doctors visit is this Wed - so I'll have an official total at that time :-)

    Thanks Ardita!
I think I'm doing pretty well - in fact, from reading what some other people have said it makes me nervous that things have gone so easy for me. The only thing that is still bugging me is that I still feel bloated and think I've actually gained weight. It makes a week exactly today for me that I had the surgery - and look forward to having more to share as I go thru my journey!
