Hi Jim. Thanks for the message. It's nice to know I was missed! My laptop died on me and despite getting every computer-techy type guy we know to look at it, it hasn't been able to be revived. I ended up ordering a new keyboard for my old one on ebay, which has thankfully now arrived and been fitted - so I'm back online, albeit on a much slower machine. It's gonna take me forever to catch up on everything I've missed! I hope all's well with you, will check out your blog as part of my catch-up. Lis x

    Hi Friends,

My one year anniversary is coming up on May 18 and I have just added a new album under my profile pebitpeb, "My Journey". I have photos taken over the past 5 years of my life and if you click on any photo there is a caption attached.

It is hard to believe that only one year ago I was preparring to go into a hospital in Pisa, Italy and receive an operation that would give me a wonderful new life. Getting the surgery had become something that I had given up on when still living in the USA, however when I moved to Italy 2 years ago, it became attainable. Who would have ever thought living in Italy and having gastric bypass, abdominoplasty and getting my hip replaced all in 1year. It really is appropriate though as moving to Italy, new language, new culture, new experiences, new person and a terrific new life.

I give thanks for the support I have received here and look forward to continuing this journey as part of this great TT family.

    Hi Jim,

I read on SWMBO blog, that your dear wife has a favourite food...Taco John's Refried Beans. Would you mind telling me what kind of beans they are? Are they solely American I wonder as I have never heard of such a bean?

I am due to have my bypass this summer (have been holding my breath about pending op - so so scared) anyway, back to the beans...I love beans, therefore I feel I need to research different protein foods and find out what is gonna be available to me.

I have read on various sites that post op patients find it difficult to eat meat? Is this due to texture? Also, bread is difficult to eat? Which would be a good thing in my case, I love all carbs, not bothered by meat/fish, also love fast food and all chocolates and cake...hence the huge weight. I am praying I get this 'dumping syndrome' thingy.

If the Taco John Refried Beans are difficult to purchase, is there an alternative equally good in protein and low in cals? Sorry if I am picking your brains.

    Thanx a lot

    Cheryl

The angelic Crystal still has care for me. I have seen several Doctors today. Dr. White, my surgeon this AM, he says I am doing great and I should be out of the hospital tomorrow. An Internist that works with Dr. White on cases where a patients PCP does not work at a specific hospital. I cannot remember his name, but he also says I am doing great and should be out of jail by tomorrow.

Roxy and Beth came to visit the afternoon. Roxy is Dr. Whites Program Administrator Nurse and Beth...

I am beginning to not like Tami the nurse who came on at 7. Its just after midnight and I dread the words that are about to come out of her mouth with that cute southern drawl. They have come out of her mouth several times in the last few hours. "Any Luck?" she says. Those two words would have been fine if I was fishing, or at the Blackjack table. But at this moment in time, they were dreaded. Tonight, I definitely do not like Tami.

I cannot pee.

I have stood,...

I awoke to the wonderful sight of Wheelchair Pusher Girl. I am sure they have an official title, but all I know, at that point in time, is that she will be called Wheelchair Pusher Girl and that Wheelchair Pusher Girl = the test and passing the test = water therefore, Wheelchair Pusher Girl = water in my current 4 mg of morphine one hour ago hazed mind. My high school algebra teacher would be happy. Let us review, if A=B and B=C, then A=C. On to the test.

So as best as we could, we...

I am thirsty. I could end this blog right here and that would sum this morning up. I will repeat, I am thirsty. I have had nothing to drink since 10:30 on Sunday night and it is now 0630 on Tuesday Nov 20th and my throat and mouth is so dry. Sure, I have been on an IV, I have the Foley Catheter properly installed (a story which I will elaborate upon) and I am involuntarily moving bodily fluids. But my mouth is dry and my throat hurts and I have just been told that I can have nothing to drink until...

This has been an interesting day. I arrived at the hospital on time. I kept waiting to sign a paper stating I would not hold the hospital responsible if I died, but that doc was never placed in front of me. They gave my wife a restaurant thingy, You know, the one you get at the Red Lobster or the Outback when your table is ready, but instead of a table, it was the one you get when your husband is ready. I thought it was funny that I was having gastric bypass, and my wife was given a restaurant thingy....
