I figured. My response said that particular nutritionist may know alot about nutrition, but, there is no way that we are physically able to "load" our stomach prior . Try to eat a carb-/protein rich dinner the night prior and some yogurt and a 1/4 banana at "least" 90 minutes" prior to a race- anything else will make you feel like total unadulterated dog _(if you get my meaning.) Sorry the other message didn't go through- it was much longer and phonetically written beter than this one.
Congrats on your success. It is a good feeling to just get "out" there and do something I never dreamed of doing prior- You will do great. Email anytime and good luck with your progress. I am hitting "post Message now"

BTW- I didn;t make the 1/2 marahon- My knee kept giving "out" at 10 miles and my orthopedic surgeon sat me down and "lectured" me about doing too much too quickly when my bones and nutrition weren't up to par.. Scary thing is , I actually listened (for once). Have a great eveing.

Did you get my reply? I don't see it listed on my page and didn't want you to think I ignored you. If it never went through(late at night I am notorious for hitting delete instead of send) let me know..

Hi, I was reading a post I saw you reply to about running 1/2 marathons post-op. I'm currently training for a 1/2 marathon scheduled for January. As our distance runs get longer, I find myself hitting a wall around 5 miles. We had a seminar where a nutritionist was telling us to eat carbs 1-2 hour before a run. I asked her how I could do that after WLS and she said I should eat the same as everyone else before a long run. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to share your experience with me. What worked for you pre-run, during the run and after the run to keep your body fueled. The thought of all those carbs really scares me, lol. I am doing this as a challenge for myself but my main goal is still to lose weight (im only 6 mos post-op). Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
