As for the family, the only person I have told is my mother. I am a mother myself and would hope one of my children with let me know if they were taking on this life altering expierence. My mother lives local and calls or stops by by house almost everyday so she would know something was up. The rest of my family and my husband's family have no idea and I didn't feel I needed to discuss with them. They are all wonderful, i just didn't want to explain myself and dodge the questions or negative energy. If you are secure in your decision to have the surgery, nobody should feel they have the power to change your mind or discuss the topic with you when they are uneducated on the process. good luck to you!!

Thanks for the feedback on my blog. I recently spoke with a friend of mine who is in HR. By law, we don't have to disclose the nature of the medical procedure we are taking time off for. Now that I have done "full disclousure" I should have gone with my first instinct and kept my mouth shut and deal with the questions after when the weight is coming off. On the View TV show, Starr Jones announced that she was practicing Pilates and portion control and that is how the weight came off. I am finding that peole look at you differently when they hear what we are doing, just my expierence. I think from now one I am only sharing with others, not this group, the necessary information. I am takling time off, see you this date and be on my way. Good luck to you. It is also against the Privacy Acts for your HR Dept. to divulged to anyone the nature of the leave, maybe they need to be reminded of that.

I was very nerveous about my psych evaluation. I had pictured them administering tests with trick questions trying to trip me up. I was very surprised to find just the opposit. thye therapist was wonderful and we had a detailed discussion about my weigh thru the years. Documenting my highest/lowest adult weights and also the weights of my parents and siblings. They are trying to determine if you have other underlying issues that need to be resolved before surgery.
