    Let's try this again...

My name is Vicki. About our grey, I think I know what might have set her off. She plays this game with me whenever I try to feed her. She stands on her bowl and tries to nip me (she doesn't do this to anyone else). The day she started plucking again I had gotten fed up with the nipping and switched her water bowl and her food bowl. She looked at me kind of funny and then I forgot about it. I think it might have stressed her out or something. When my husband picked her up to play with, I noticed her beautiful tail was gone, and some of her belly was bare! I had used this stuff called 'pluck no more' in the past and it helped. Barb from the rescue told me it was dangerous to use, but it didn't seem to bother the bird. I would like to check that stuff out. Send me a link.

If you've never been to the Finger Lakes area, you should definitely visit sometime in the summer. Get out of the heat and away from those fires! Here is a link about it: NY Tourism & Travel- Finger Lakes wineries vacations packages events | Real estate summer rentals. There are a lot of places to stay but you can also rent houses on the lakes. If you're interested in that, let me know and I'll send you the links. There are wineries everywhere. We stayed on Keuka lake two years ago and fell in love with the area. For the past year we looked for land and finally bought 25 acres up on a hill with a fabulous view.

By the way, this picture was taken a couple of years ago before I quit smoking. I'm about 50 pounds heavier now and won't get in front of the camera.

OK.....I lost (don't know how) your message about your Grey...and what Barb thinks of "pluck no more". I didn't get to read the whole thing...before I went to read your personal letter....and now I can't find it.

Can you email it to me, please??

Yes, please do let me know when you are visiting again. My hubby & I can take you and your hubby to some good restaurants (that they can pigout in)....I'm over the pigging out thing or at least I will be after surgery. I was denied last Friday, so, I have a fight on my hands....I'm appealing with my insurance company.

Hmmmmmm, wine country! I want to go there and visit on vacation with my hubby....I'm the wino, he loves his rum....but, he'll drink some wine. When we decide to go (at least a couple of years from now), I'll have to let you know that we are coming to your neck of the woods. LOL

About your Grey, if he is plucking again, I might can help. I sell something called "Feather-In" by Avitech and its really wonderful for pluckers. Its kinda like an oatmeal bath that you mix and spray on them 1-2 daily. It has really helped my guys and I know that Barb @ Second Chance uses it too....so does my friend in NY with the other rescue (where I'm going on Thurs). It also molting season...huge...and most birds are loosing feathers and getting new ones.

It can be loud sometimes....not overly though. Our guys/girls spend a lot of time outside, when we are home. Every weekend though, its cleaning time. I'm telling ya, a power washer is wonderful!

Thanks! I'm going to get to yes....just a matter of time. My friend that I'm going to visit has a rescue also. She has something like 50 birds....all breeds, including 2 Hys. Are you referring to "Second Chance Bird Rescue" in NY? I know the owner, but we aren't friends...we have very different outlooks on what a rescue should be & do. Good for you and your hubby for rescuing the African Grey (Congo or Timi) and the cockatiel too. I currently have a grand total of 8 birds. I have 3 cockatoo's, 1 Indian Ring Neck, 3 cockatiels & babysitting a Congo Grey.

I'm flying into Newburgh Airport on Thursday around 12noon. I'm really excited!! I'm going to visit my friend in Hopewell Junction.....and we are gonna hit a couple of Winery's or two. LOL My hubby & I have our own business here in Cocoa Beach.....cocoabeachwinery.com check it out if you like wine. We are 100% fruit based...NO grape. What's on the label, is what is in the bottle.

Just curious where you flew to NY to. I'm in the Rochester area and am wondering if you came to our local rescue. I have a Congo African Grey and a cockatiel. I didn't get either of them from a rescue, but we adopted the grey to avoid having her sent to one. She is a real character. So how many birds do you have (I see the pic of the 'too)? I'm so sorry about you being denied. Keep trying. I'm just starting on this journey.
