Hi Cathy, just wanted to say...Hang in there. This journey isn't easy physically OR emotionally! I found that there is HUGE learning curve for everyone and it takes alot of patience and time. You're doing fine. The struggles you have been having are honestly part of the process. Most of us went through much of the same thing. Once you get over this hurdle be prepared to not want to eat at all. At about 6 weeks postop eating became such a HUGE trial. I would sit down to a meal, take 2 bites and then look at it. My pouch would ache, nothing tasted good and I was tempted more than once to throw my plate against the wall. I didn't...but the dogs ate well there for awhile. *L* Emotionally it wore on me. It wasn't that I wanted to eat a lot...I just wanted to be able to enjoy the taste of food again and I felt like I would never get to that stage....this is all part of the process....just embrace it and realize it is totally normal. Hang in there, the hunger gets better. Increase your fluids when you feel hungry, sometimes you really are thirsty. Go and take a walk, read a book, do something for yourself. If you still think you are hungry than go ahead and have a protein drink, pudding, etc...whatever stage you are at. The biggest thing is not to panic, allow yourself to mourn the change in your relationship to food, look at what you are feeling....and if you really think what you are feeling is hunger it isn't wrong to eat...as long as it is on the approved foods your surgeon listed.

Feel free to pm me anytime, ok? That's what we are here for...to help eachother.
