hehehe....yep, that we are. Hey you know me. Gotta stay in my surgoen's line of vision if I ever hope to get a job! Did hear something nice from a patient last night though. She asked me if I was the "Beth" in the ads. Told her I was. She said Dr Baker talked about me in her orientation. Told them I was a nurse on the Burn Center and that I was a really good nurse. So just maybe my plan is working!! Hopefuly something positive will come out of this.

No, there isn't any other meds. I'm on them all, Prilosec, Pepcid, carafate and Cytotec. Each one protects a different part of the digestive system and I am on max doses of all of them. It worries me. I took care of a lady last night who had her RNY 2 months after me. She's been battling an ulcer for a year. It has now gotten so bad she isn't even able to eat and is in constant pain. They are taking her to surgery on monday to remove the ulcer and revise her pouch with a whole new connection. It worries me because an ulcer could perforate or develop a fistula. It doesn't happen quickly but it could happen down the road if this thing doesn't heal.

Glad to hear you are putting on some weight. Sure hope you don't end up with a PICC hun.

    eeesh....aren't we just the pair?

Is there anything stronger they can give you? Or switch it out on and off.. you just may be getting used to it. I'm sorry you have to go through the possibility of a chronic ulcer.

I'm... slowly getting there. Doc is monitoring me every 2wks, wants me eating 3x a day and 2 snacks. I'm not doing so well with it. We are avoiding a picc line since obviously my last one was infected, but ive gotten to 108.

hehehe...hi sweetie. My PA asked me the same question last night at work. My answer? I'm having okay days and not so good ones. This ulcer certainly isn't gone by any means. It's going to be stubborn and is pretty much turning into a chronic ulcer. Asked him if this is something I may have to deal with for life? His answer was, "I know this isn't what you want to hear but it could be." I'm on max of all the meds out there covering just about everything. It's tolerable but not great.

So how are you feeling lil' one?

Kelly, don't worry about bothering me. You're important to me, hun. I can only imagine how anxious you must be. I would be fearful too but I know your doctor will make the best decision for you. I'm taking care of myself. Kind of uncomfortable today but I'm tolerating food ok. I'm not throwing up at all just this gnawing discomfort that comes and goes. Seems to be coming more than going today.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you on tuesday, Kelly.

    *tight hug*

It's ok to be scared, hun.

I know you've got your stuff going on, but my surgery is this tuesday coming up. I know i'm in good hands, just worried i'm going to wake up and the bypass will be undone. Thats my HUGE HUGE fear, after all ive been through the past 2 yrs, to have it all gone. I hope you are taking care of yourself. I worry about you all the time.

Thanks for the thoughts, Kelly. I'm doing ok. Eating is getting a bit easier but then I have one of those evenings where I just don't feel good. Having one tonight. I just feel SO bloated, cramping with nausea. So out came the Vicodan, Phenergan and Levsin. I'm just so ready to feel good. It's feels like its been a long time in coming. Yeah, the emotions have just kind been all over the place. Geoff and I have sorta been asked to watch over the widower. Most of the family is two hours away except for his two girls but both were married in just the past 3 months. Just not sure how their Dad will handle all of this. He is still fairly young, only like 34-35. We've been sharing our daughters forever over 20 years.
