Just 2 days to go. Surgery is planned for this Friday, Aug 29. I'm ready for this to happen. Had my pre-op appointment with the surgeon and a phone interview with the nurse 2 days ago on Monday. All looks good. No worries. I'm very excited to get this started.

So yesterday I picked up a C-Pap machine to help with the sleep apnea. Not a proud moment if you know what I mean. Having this lady go over this machine with me, all I could think of was, "seems rather pathetic that I'm unable to sleep correctly and must wear this frightening mask. I wonder what my kids and wife are going to think?"

I had a sleep study done May 13, the doctor called and said they want to do another one, this time with a C-pap machine. I go in on May 25 for that.

To me, the sleep study has been the one hoop that has been the most difficult. May be it is simply because I'm out of a comfort zone, having to sleep with "people" watching, hooked up to all those wires and such.

Oh well, I think of this as a journey and a journey begins with a step and continues on, step by...

Just getting started and am glad I found this site. Have found answers to lots of questions and it looks like this will be an excellent resource.

I went to a program meeting on March 26 to learn about the surgery. Filled out the application and mailed it in. Received a phone call Friday, April 11 that my insurance would cover the surgery and to schedule the initial consult appointments. I go in Wed. April 23 for those.

I currently weigh 319 pounds and am 5'11"....
