Hi Lady V--just got your message--I am 5'5" and Nov 8 I was 2 months out--as of today I am down 56 lbs. I don't regret it for a second--I feel 20 years younger, my arthritis is way better and I don't miss the food at all. PM me if you have any other questions but I had complications and was in a little more pain than normal but it was because my insides were twisted--EVERY MOMENT OF THE PAIN was worth it and it got better each day so....

Hello LadyV! So you are just starting out on the "journey"? I was very apprehensive at first also about my decision and was floored by how long it would take to actually get from deciding to absolutely have the surgery and then to the point of the surgery. (That was a heck of a long sentence). Then you find out you have to do this and that and then another thing and it can seem pretty daunting. I guess that is the kind of the psychological road blocks we can hit pre-surgery. But it was well worth the wait and though I know that I seem to lose at a slower rate than some; I am so happy I overcame any initial fears I might have had and went ahead with it.

Fortunately my sons and the hubster were very supportive and knew that the surgery would solve many of my "physical" problems; and that the mortality rate was no larger than in any other type comparitive surgery.

I hope you get a lot of support from your family...if they are just kind of so so about it all...it is good to know that you have other places (such as this forum) to turn to for advice and support. You just hang in there my dear and don't doubt yourself. I firmly believe it is a decision that can save many lives and gives a person a true gift of health and well being. Big hug to you...cathy
