Hey Barbara
I'm probably going in either late oct/early nov. and am having RNY.
I chose this one because of the amount I have to lose (a lot) and the regain rate is much lower than the lapband as well as less maintenance.
My doc doesn't do the DS procedure so that took care of that decision; and I've heard the success rates are quite similar anyway. -

Have been invited to do 2 research studies--one at Vanderbilt University, the other at NIH.
They fly me out to Bethesda for the NIH one next week.
They both pay very well, both are testing metabolism before/after wls.
They both require a muscle biopsy from my leg.
THAT is the scariest part.
I hate pain...
