September 3rd was my second doctor's appointment since surgery on August 5th. Following my first followup appointment 9 days after surgery, and then my nutritionist appointment at 15 days, I'd seen a total of almost 25 lbs of weight loss! I was stoked ... until!
The scale...on the 3rd. NOT what I expected to see. And I thought I was trying so hard not to expect too much, but I was .. still .. hoping .. not sure.
FOUR pounds, in two weeks. That number was difficult...

I've been severely slacking in my updates here! My apologies. Now that I've got the hang of this -for now, mostly .... Life has once again taken over!
I saw my surgeon on Thurs Aug 14th - 9 days post op! My weigh in was down 12.9 lbs. I knew I should have peed before going in there, or stopped drinking that water soon! *laughs* The visit went very well. Incisions were healed up, pain was minimal to none at that point. My only real complaint was my energy level. I was waking up around...

I work for the county. Our insurance is what I guess is called .. self pay? All claims are paid for by the county's budget. From speaking with them, they quickly advised that this was not a covered benefit, my doctor was welcome to make the request, but it would be denied. They've had other requests before, all of which have been denied.
I guess I wonder, why? Mostly it seems not to be the concern of covering the cost of the initial...

Despite having made my daily eating calendar where I keep track of my food/liquids intake, I've been falling way behind where I need to be!
After having started the 4oz protein shakes, I find myself managing 2, maybe 3 a day, when I need to be drinking 6, while still getting my other liquids in between! I think the toughest part for me is still feeling very bloated and swollen after the surgery and eating/drinking seems to make it more uncomfortable, or did in the beginning. That...

The wait and long anticipation are finally over! Surgery was on Tuesday August 5th @ 0920 hrs. Things went smoothly and I was on my way to recovery by early afternoon and then moved to my own room. I have to say that the staff who worked with me were awesome, professional, supportive and very friendly! It greatly helped to calm my nerves of knowing that I'd be staying there at least one night, possibly two.
The first afternoon was rough. I'd gotten very little sleep the night before,...
