Had my gastric bypass on the 11th Oct 2007 tomorrow is 11th April so it is exactly 18 mothns to the day. I have lost 13.5 stone....

Had my tummy ... gone tomorrow :-)

Have very small bat wings but I hate them and she says she can do a tidy up of them into the muscle. Also some extra skin on inner thighs which she says she will also do.
As this is not life saving surgery she perfers to be slow and steady and not do it all at once like the Yanks do. I must admit being a nurse I agree with her.

    Hi Gary
Ta for message. Not doing very well at all. Boo Hoo. Feel sick day and night. Cant eat drink anything without chronic chest pain (oseaphegus in spasm...feels like a heart attack...no exageration either). Drinking is a huge problem. 2 sips...chest pain. Took me all day to drink a 75cl bottle of water!! Feel weak and faint due to not having any fluids in me, but surgeon said he will give it to week 5 post op...so thats Friday week, then probably operate again (noooooooooooo) and take a stitch out (ouch ) as it sounds as though the opening into my new pouch is far too tight. Its sewn so tight as some bypass patients regain some of the weight they have lost 5 - 10 years down the line....oh shit, that no good is it? So, have to sit tight and hang on in there. This was the main complication I had in ICU, couldnt swallow my own saliva....how pleasant?
So, cant wait for this awful feeling of sickness to go. Surgeon said to drink 2 - 3 egg cupfuls of coca cola a day to try and stretch the pouch...hasnt worked yet though. Also, stand up to drink. Trying all of this to no avail so far. If he told me to do a headstand I'd do it, my surgeon is marvellous, just want to feel normal again.
Weight is coming off, lost 2st 11lbs....so am pleased about that of course.
Your weight loss is absolutely brilliant. Will we ever be satisfied? Always looking to shift a bit more weight.
Is Thomas Moore Square near the supermarket? Wasnt Sainsburys, but began with S?? Not Sommerfields or Safeways....oh, what was it called. Right near the 'Sun newspaper' buildings. Stupid memory.
Luck you found some 'safe' food ie cottage pie. Cant eat any meat or fish, have tried. Or potato. Also, soup and yogurt are a problem now...so it looks like he will have to open me up again...bummer.
Anyway, keep in touch. Keep up the good work Gary

Hi Cheryl, well done on the op and hope your keeping well. Dont worry about the scales I was the same. At your stage I lived on cottage pie and managed that for a few weeks actually. I experimented a little. I did eat a lot of cream crackers and cheddar cheese. Know the Town of Ramsgate. I live the other end near thomas moore square. So hows life? You have made the first step to a new life. I have now lost over 11 and half stone in 9 months and am so happy! Wanna lose 1 more.... or so :-)

    Gary x 07753 42 12 72 if u need help with any questions?!

    Hi Gary
How you doing? Ok I hope.
Had my bypass 4th July. Left UCLH 11th July. Still trying to find out what I can and cant eat. Soup and yogurt ok, and ate special K this morning ok....but tuna and mayo a no go and bolognaise no good.
What type of foods do you eat?
Where abouts in Wapping do you live? I used to drink in the Town of Ramsgate in Wapping High Street. I do know Wapping very well. Ideal location for the city.
Have lost 2 st 8 lbs so far....have managed to keep off the scales since Sunday....but its difficult to keep off them......I am obsessed with them!!
    Keep in touch

Yeah I am soon to be 8 months post op and have not went there yet. My doc is pretty strict with his diet, so I don't suspect I will be trying it anytime soon. I am pretty much a protein and green veggie girl. I don't get sick and dump that way.

I am not sure if the problem for me is the cereal or the milk. So I just don't eat neither. That way I stay feeling good.
