It's very quiet in my house this morning. My DH is in Ojai for a meeting and my 10-year old granddaughter is with her Mom for the weekend. (GD lives with us now) My 3 cats are sleeping after being fed and attended to....

I know I'll be busy later on. It's always been a habit of mine to do major housework when my DH is away. And I mean MAJOR! Nothing is left undone and it's very satisfying to see the house completely clean.

This time around I need to go outside and take...

I got a message tonight saying my former mother-in-law was in the hospital in ICU and not expected to make it. She's 79, and has been on dialysis for several years now. Her system simply can't take it anymore and they are shutting down.

I met Ellie in 1968 when I went "steady" with her son Bob. Ellie took me under her wing and has always been Mom even though my marriage to Bob ended in divorce. Her statement then was, "Don't you dare ever divorce me!"

It's been awhile since I've posted to my blog about clothing and shopping. Last was I had discovered I could wear a size 18 Misses...down from a 22 womens.

I'm happy to say I can now wear a medium top and size 12 pants! The pants are a little loose, but I have no intentions of getting size 10's just yet.

My closet still looks sad and forlorn....not much in it to choose from and it will get worse before it gets better. I've kept a few of the size 14 pants just to wear around...

Today I learned that one of my former students had passed away last Thursday.

Dayhna was 25 and had spent the majority of her life morbidly obese. When she left school she probably weighed over 300 pounds and was 5'1". Her father told me Dayhna actually gained more weight after school and had spent the past 3 years basically sitting and eating.

Thankfully, she did not suffer from pain and died in her sleep.

It makes me wonder about the students I...

This time last year I weighed 255 pounds and wore a size 22 womens. My ankles were swollen and I had high blood pressure, sleep problems, mobility problems, and just plain lazy. I lived for sweets and devoured them daily. I gave into a daily craving by visiting favorite eating places mid-afternoon and either eating a full meal and/or a huge dessert. Then, had afull dinner a few hours later. I often did grocery shopping and brought back tons of sweets and junk food...sometimes hiding many many items...

Eseret,
I appreciate your response , I am pre-op and
I am just very curious. I am having GP and am not sure what to expect. I am in a six week life change program and it is not real informative yet. They are discussing why we over eat etc. I heard you get to eat only 3 ounces of food after several weeks of liquids and have to slowly eat like over 45 minutes and have to chew your food 25 times? But I have not talked to any post-op folks. so again thanks
