Hi Elayne....It will come so fast and before you know it, it will be surgery day! I am not looking forward to the liquid diet either. Saturday will be here before I know it and it's scary. I have let go of so much and I know I can do it! But it doesn't mean that it doesn't suck!!!! Keep me updated on everything and I will let you know how it all goes!

I actually work in White Plains - I live in Yorktown. Tarrytown is a beautiful place. If you are looking to get out of the city, yorktown is a great place. I have an awesome apartment in a townhouse complex. I get a lot more space that you would in the city. I used to live in Bay Ridge in brooklyn and in the bronx I lived outside riverdale.

Wow - 1 month out. You'll adjust. I hear that the first month is hard, just getting used to the lifestyle. I'm glad that you are in the city - it's awesome to know that someone is close that just went thru it.

I do not have a date yet. I have 2 more months of PCP diet for my 6 months and hopefully will be submitting to insurance company 6/11

Im happy that I had it and my blood pressure is improving but it is a very difficult adjustment and its not as easy dealing with as I thought. Im ok with not eatting as much or the things Im not supposed to eat or drink. But im in pain the minute i start eatting anything or when i take a sip of anything. Its like im swallowing rocks nad sometimes my stomach doesnt tolerate well so i get sick. Actually most of the time thats the case so i hardly ever eat now.
But I am only 1 month out and I hear it will get better for me in time. I hope so! ::crosses fingers:: lol
What about you.. have a date yet or are you still waiting for approval and going through the annoying pre testings? lol..

I like westchester and whiteplains! I would love to live in Tarry Town- its beautiful there but very expensive i hear. Maybe someday! lol..
I had GBS on March 25th of this year. Im 1 month post-op and 35 pounds lighter. lol
I did mine at Mount Sinai hospital. I used to work there and they have a great WLS center and programs.

I went for my endoscopy yesterday. I was a little scared 'cause I've never been under any anesthesia and I really didn't know what to expect. It went good though. I was in the doctor's office and they were all really nice. I went in with a killer headache though (I suffer from migraines). I threw up 2x before and it was all bile (not to be gross) because I hadn't eaten anything since about 9pm the night before.

I laid on the gurney/bed and got my IV, they stuck heart things on my...

Ö Chew food well (until its pureed)
§ Try cutting food into small pieces (the size of a pencil eraser).
§ Liquefy food in mouth before swallowing (chew food 15 times before you swallow).
§ Put your fork down between bites (count to 60 before you take another bite).
§ Try using cocktail forks or baby utensils to help take small bites.

You will require vitamin and mineral supplements for the rest of your life in order to prevent deficiencies. Remember, you are eating much less food, as well as absorbing fewer nutrients, and therefore requires supplemental vitamins, minerals and protein.

First 3 Weeks After Surgery: All pills must be chewed or crushed!

v Chewable Multi-Vitamin (chewable children’s): Flinstones Complete or Centrum Jr. with iron (chew 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM). 2/day.
