I just went for my pre-op day and followed up by a visit with the dietician and the bariactric nurse coordinator. There was one other person doing these visits at the same time. I am having GB and he is having the sleeve. I asked the nurse why the difference and is the a better of the 3 options. She explained that GB is perfect for someone (like me) who is a snacker all day kind of mindless eater when the sleeve was perfect for someone who has trouble with portion control. The gentleman mentioned that he never snacks, but when he eats a meal it is 3-4 times more food than a normal person would eat. I was thinking about my own family situation and i have a brother who is classified as extremely severe morbidly obese and he never snacks, but he does eat HUGE quantities of food. Also with the sleeve you will be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks and you don't have to worry about the vitamins becasue of the malabsorption. Hope this helps.

My surgeon went thru the 3 options with me, one being the sleeve. he said this procedure was fairly new and not used much. His surgery of choice is the gastric bypass. With the sleeve, the stomache is cut but the rest of the digestive tract remains intact. When i was making my decision i didn't find much on the sleeve so i went with what my surgeon recommended. Good luck!!
