I can't remember, but if you are 14 days or less from your surgery, a liquid high protein diet is a great idea. It helps make sure that there is little or no fat on the liver, which gets in the way of the surgery. That fat is the first to go when you diet and the first to come back if you slip. Good luck on your surgery! I'm sure you'll do great.
I think involving your husband early on is important. If he is prepared, he will be better equipped to help care for you. I didn't expierence a long drive home, I live 15 minutes from the hospital. I know people in my group stayed in a hotel room for a couple days until they felt strong enough to travel. Maybe if you have a cooler, you can pack some milk and a powder protein shake mix and shake and go. Also, while i was in the hspital they gave me something to drink called isopure. You can buy this at GNC. It comes in many flavors. It looks like Kool Aide and has kinda a funky after taste, at least i think it does. Anyway, a 20 oz bottle has 40 grams of protein. So I try to sip a bottle of this and have one protein shake a day to fulfil the 60 gram requirement. The applesause, cream of wheat, jello, and pudding and hardly any protein so this has been working for now. Once we get to the Stage 3 diet the food list will open up some. Hope this helps. oh, by the way I am 10 days post op from laproscopic gastric bypass. Please let me know if i can help answer any questions you may have.
