Whitney I just had my first chat on Skype group with Gwen in the Uk and Mike in Buffalo NY, all together, they lifted my spirits are really fun people, Mike's little one was eating plastic at one point, my headset wasn't working so I need to get that taken care, but oh what a hoot they were and the accents, I bet you have a great accent too, mine is just western usa and maybe a little italiano now. A presto bella. Paul

Sounds like you are all set with your programs - sometime watching TV is so fun and relaxing! Be well, Paul, and have a terrific day...Thursday is almost here

Whitney Bernardo and I both want to come along as for us with the Euro in charge it is not so difficult especially if we can plan ahead and start shopping early for the airfare from Pisa. Hopefully Claire's agent will be getting out some information with more details of the cruise. I am extremely grateful to be able to have my laptop here in the hospital with me along with several downloads of American tv programs, Law and Order, Gilligans Island, Green Acres and a few of my favorite chick flicks Freaky Friday, Legally Blonde I and II and the new cartoon movie Ratatouille, also a couple episode of the Price is Right. Well dear heart I hope your day is fabulous. Talk to you soon.

I am so thankful you have your computer with you Paul - can you imagine not having it?? I shudder to think!! Now the picture of the lot of us striking it rich on the cruise would be priceless!! I can't wait!! You ARE coming, aren't you?!

Whitney if I understand correctly you are also a donator to the tribes, good girl....... If we are all fortunate enough to be together on the cruise this year, I hope we can all sit side my side and give it our best try in the casino on the ship, I would imagine that they have one or two onboard as most cruiselines due. That would be a hoot if we all hit at the same time. My Dad lives in Northern MN so we go for a day when I visit, I always try walking away from the machine with something ahead, it doesn't always happen. Then my ex neighbor a sweet 78 year old lady in Portland OR loves to have a day at Spirit Mtn Casino and she is fun as she is always a winner, it amazes me, I think they like her alot there and with those little cards with the chips on back know when she is playing, plus she plays until she gets ahead and usually comes away at least $500 to the plus of what she spent, often $1000's ahead. For me it is all good fun and here in Italy we dont have so many casino's I think there are two, of coarse we are only about 3 hours from Monte Carlo, but have never gone. Well dear heart have a great day, I've been up walking with the crutches 6 times now and I am doing good tomorrow I will wear my shoes for walking and hopefully do the stair so I can leave Thursday this is what the main Dr of this section told me this morning, I will demand it, as Thursday will be day 11 and I am feeling a bit depressed with this bed and room. Take good care Whitney, chat soon.

You sure do have that "get up and go" (no pun intended) attitude that will get you through this Paul. Hang in there and take it one moment at a time...

Whitney Italia is definately the place you visit, fall in love with and if you are lucky get to experience the everyday life with the people, not just the beautiful tourist attractions. My friends who come stay with Bernardo's Papa and Momma who speak only 3 or 4 words of english, but are old worlk Italiano parents full of love and fuss over you like no one else. You would also want the villa until you saw the prices, the cost of actually living here is huge. Italy is great for visiting, but requires commitment to stay and accept old world customs and practices that change at a snails pace if at all. The language is one of the most beautiful languages in the romantics and one of the most difficult to learn but after 2 years I am starting to grasp it better and going to school has done wonders for me. I walked twice today once supervised and the second I rang for the nurses for 30 minutes and could hold it no more so I made my way 20 feet to the bathroom, all went well and even got myself back to bed on my own. But wont make a habit of it, but now I do have some new confidence. Take care.--Paul

Wow Paul - Italy sounds like a place you go to visit, fall in love with, and never leave. I wonder if I could be like the woman in "Under the Tuscan Sun" and fall in love with a country town and buy a villa and retire? Heaven on earth

Whitney that would be alot of fun, this year we are coming to the US in May for 3 weeks to see family and friends in Minnesota and Oregon and will hopfully make a two day trip to San Fransisco where I will be getting my Italian VISA stamp on my passport, making me legal. Until now I am here totally as an illegal alien and they have given me full rights of a citizen expect for the right to work, but all my medical proceedures(lap. gastr. bypass, abdominoplasties, hip replacement, medications, going to the public school system, the polizia who control alot about foreignors have advised that they are not going to escort me to an airport unless I am a major criminal or making political problems. I am very lucky. In Sept. I will have relatives visiting and then my best friends from my childhood will come again and stay in the house with Bernardo's parents, they did it two years ago and had such a great cultural experience, came at wine making time, and we took day trips to many exciting places as we are within an hours of many beautiful awesome places(Pisa, Cinque Terre, Florence, Lucca and many small mountain village and castles) almost anywhere you go in Italy is eye opening and not all need be overly crowded with themajor tourist scene, and of coarse Carrara where we live is famous for the white marble used around the world and by Micheal Angelo for his sculting in Rome and Vatican. Lots of beautiful art and architecture everywhere and delicious foods to sample. Have a wonderful day.-Paul
