    Hi Carl,
Yes...doing well. Have lost 2stone 6pounds so far.
I managed to do the soup and muller diet for a total of 3 weeks 1 day (even took 8 tins of soup into the hospital with me...I was admitted on Wednesday 2nd July, had IVC filter put into my neck on the 3rd and had bypass on the 4th.
I did have a complication though....I was very sick when I came round from the op. It turned out that the stitches at the top of my new pouch was so tight, I couldnt swallow my own saliva!!! So, I vomited day and night for four days in ICU. I must of ruptured my pouch in the first crucial 24hours, which done some damage.
Anyway, Mr Hash said I may need further surgery to un do a stitch, but he wanted to try a GN tube first (gastric nasal tube is a tube that passes through the nose, down the throat and down into the stoma) he put this tube in whilst I was awake...I felt so sick I was glad of it...he immediately drained a lot of fluid out which helped enormously. He told me not to swallow my saliva for a whole night....which I managed to do until 4.30am which left me weak and exhausted....I trust that man with my life, he will be forever a hero of mine.
My full story (blogs) are logged on the Anne Diamond site Buddypower.....same name Cherylharr.....check it out for a laugh.
Best of luck to you anyway.
I lost 1st 5lbs on the soup diet pre op...I managed to stick to it rigidly even though I cooked roast dinners etc for my family....that really tested my nerve....but was too scared my liver would be too large on op day.
Your wife will need support to cope....my husband was beside himself with fear of losing me...due to blood clot history....it is very tough on our partners.
Keep strong and good luck my friend.

    Hi Cheryl,

Great holiday thanks... all tanned!! well not ALL tanned but you know....

Yep you read it right 2.5 years total wait. However I did have a BIG falling out with Mr H, and he basically told me to **** *** and find someone else to do the op. But we've made up now, and i can confidently state that until i come around from the anaesthetic, hes my best friend in the world. lol.

Things really seem to be speeding along now at the UCLH and waiting lists are right down.

I went out today to stock up on the WW soups and Muller Lights, although I have only been told i need to do it for two weeks. Mr H says if my BMI is not down enough he might do the "sleeve" first then the bypass later if required. So at the moment (starting today) im doing one day liquids, and one day liquids with a small healthy sandwich or someting. Thats until the 9th which is when it all goes liquid.... how did you cope?

had my pre op meeting with Mr H yesterday, all went well and will be phoning Alice weekly with a weight report.

I wish you all the best for your procedure over the next few days... and rumour has it all of the beds have internet access in the bed units so you could keep me posted with the gory details.... but make sure you rest and get better slowly... no rush!!

    Good luck

    Carl.

    Hi Cheryl.
Great to hear from you. I havent been given a preop diet yet. I have recently moved and I think they may have sent my confirmation to my old address so I will have to chase it tomorrow. I think my pre assessment will just involve having routine blood tests but I will keep you updated. I have has some really nice replies from people which has gone a long way to reassure me about my decision. Its a great forum. Hope your tests go well. speak to you soon
