Youre lucky to have that preop diet. I had to go on clear liquids only for the week prior(broth, water, and jello) thats it. It was soooo hard!

You're welcome! Anything to help an Army wife. My wife and I are ex-Navy and I have two sons serving, so I'm happy to offer any advice or answer any questions you might have. You're gonna do just fine. On the day of surgery, they thought I was strange because I was just so matter-of-fact, like get it over with so I can get on to losing the weight. The surgery is a complete blur. You're under in seconds, and you wake up pretty much on your way back to your room. Other than some soreness around the left side camera port, you'd almost never think you had surgery. Just remember to have whoever is driving you home bring a pillow to cradle across your stomach. You are going to feel every little bump and dip and the pillow helps a lot.

i got gastric bypass. I was a little scared. Couldnt really sleep the week before surgery. If there is one thing i would recommend taking to the hospital with you it would be an ipod or something to listen to music on. Because you arent going to be able to concentrate long enough to read or really even watch tv. But some good music would definetly help you. Of course make sure you have someone with you at all times. My mom stayed with the the entire time. Made it so much easier for me. I know if i would have been alone at any point i probably would have cried a lot more. anastesia(or however its spelled) makes me extremely emotional. Oh and i highly recomment french braiding your hair prior to surgery. its out of your face and wont look so scary afterwards. haha. anyway i guess thats probably enough info for now. im off to work!

You're very welcome! Remember, though...you have to save it as a picture b/c tickers don't work in your siggy.

Just lurking around and I saw you're from Washington. My oldest son Kyle is Army, just became a Ranger and is stationed up at Ft. Lewis. What a big change I see in him. He was at Ft. Drum in NY before with the 10th MTN, and he hated it there. Nothing to do. Now I never hear from him. He's made good friends, loves the area, and the food (he's a major sushi junkie). What does your husband do? Kyle is a 96B, Intel Analyst.

My hubby has been in for 5 1/2 years. we only get about a year between deployments. I have hot had my surgery yet. Tripler (MTF) requires you go thru a program it takes about a year or more depending on how fast you change your lifestyle. It sucks but I guess it will all be worth it in the end. you are having your surgery at the end of the month right? how long from start to finish for you? I think tripler is the only hospital that has the program.

We have been here for 2 1/2 years. my hubby has volenteered to stay fo another 3 years. so in total we will be here 6 years. its wonderful. the only bad part is that it cost a fortune to fly anywhere. I want to go to Germany but he refuses to to reinlist he wants out. I dont blame him for that he is getting ready for deployment #3.
