Glad surgery went well! It is nearly impossible to get in all of your water and all protein at the beginning. I'm 7 weeks out now and this is the first week I've been able to get it all in. 3 weeks ago I was hospitalized AGAIN for dehydration, but I've been fine since then. At the beginning I was only drinking about 8 oz per day lol. Just watch for dehydration warning signs. The main one is dizzyness and you usually feel it when you stand up from sleeping in bed, or from laying down. If you feel it, even just a little bit, go to your ER and get some IV fluids. The sooner you go, the less time you'll have to stay. If you catch it early enough you shouldn't have to stay overnight. This last time I ignored it and tried to drink more but it got too bad and I wound up having to stay for 4 days. So if you feel even just a little bit dizzy go to an ER and tell them you've just had a gastric bypass and you need some IV fluids becuase you're dehydrating. Protein wise, it's impossible. It really is, so don't beat yourself up over it. Just get in what you can, and that's that. I'm in the soft food stage now and I can get in almost all of my protein, and all of my water without making a big deal out of it. Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help. Good luck with everything, and keep in touch!

Sorry I took so long to reply to your message you sent me.
I see your surgery is coming up pretty quick.
My surgery went well, and it wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be. I was really excited! I remember going in the day of surgery and they put an IV in and asked me some questions, and then I was wheeled into the OR. There were a lot of people in there and it was very cold. They got me laying down, and then I went to sleep. When I woke up I wasn't in any pain at all, and I just wanted to sleep. I slept until about 7pm that night, and then off and on the next day. I napped a lot, and didn't have any energy. I went for a few walks, and worked with my water. The nurses were nice, and they helped me the whole time. I had some pain on the 2nd day but they gave me more medicine for it. After your surgery you might feel like "oh why did I do this?" but that is really normal. I had wished they would just put me back to the way I was, but it only lasts for a little while. Once the first week goes by, it gets a lot easier. I'm 3 weeks out now and I feel fine, no pain, and I can even sleep on my stomach again. I'm glad I had surgery, and I would do it again in a heart beat. My only regret right now is not drinking much water in the beginning. I wound up being hospitalized again because I was very dehydrated, and stayed in the hospital for another 3 days to fix it. So just make sure that you really drink your water and you'll be fine. Good luck! and be sure to let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try to be a little quicker at answering this time. What hospital are you having your surgery done at?
