OJ:
Did I ever tell you about the time my husband and I capsized a 12-foot sailboat in our lake - in the Mississippi River channel part of it? The anchor held it upside-down (along with the sails, which didn't drop when I was told to drop them) ... in 80 ft of water. It was in September, getting cold and dark - and the waves got to about 6 feet - washing over us, because the anchor held the upside-down boat down. I don't know how to swim. I was wearing a life jacket, but it rode up over my head all the time, so my husband got a length of rope from the boat and ran it thru my crotch and thru the buckles to hold the jacket down. We yelled for help but were miles from either shoreline. No one heard us. We were located in just the wrong place - between dock headings. We were there for 4 hours.
We sang. We prayed. We talked about our children and our lives together. We were ready to give up, when two fishermen who were heading to shore just happened to see the tips of my husband's fingers sticking up over a wave and he boated over to check it out, and there we were! We were too tired to climb into the boat. I still weighed about 240 pounds, so they were afraid of capsizing their little bass boat, but they got me in finally!
Several years before, hubby capsized a canoe with me in it - in rushing, Spring flood waters. I nearly died that time, too.
