Thanks for the inspiration!

You know Vicki, having the surgery IS a tough and personal decission to make. When I was 29 I went through the whole process at Dr. Callery's office. My approval came through finally and I was standing in the front office about to set my surgery date. I had this sudden rush of fear and I said "I'm sorry, I can't do this" and I walked out. I thought to myself I can diet, I can be in control, if I just try harder next time. And I did. I dieted over and over and over for the next 6 years. It was an absolute struggle and ultimately I failed over and over and over. At the end of 2007, my doctor sat me down and told me that my diabetes is no longer manageable without insuline shots. I was devastaed. 35 years old, how did I let myself get to this point? For me, it was have the surgery or admit total defeat and take the insuline shots. Just sitting here writting this has given me a bit of insight ... the need for insuline was my "rock bottom" and THAT'S what gave me the courage I needed to change my life with the surgery. So actually, my rock bottom was really a blessing. Hmmmm ...
Anyway ... for me, I do look back now and wish I had the surgery 6 years ago. I now see those 6 years as being wasted. But that's okay, because now all I see is a bright future ahead

I wish you the best of luck with your decission Vicki, I know it's a tough one.

And all of you are so wonderful offering me your support ... I don't know what I'd do without you guys!
((Darn it! Now I'm an emotional Girl!!))
