You can get a whole bunch of 'the big stuff' at garage sales and thrift stores. I see bassinets, strollers, baby gates all the time when I troll for bargains. Babies don't care if someone else slept in the bassinet before them, they don't notice that they have one of those convertible beds. My grandparents used to tell stories about being so broke they put my aunt in a dresser drawer...open and lined with blankies, of course!

BTW, you got some serious glowing going on there! Are things any easier with the in-laws? How is Andrew doing in his quest? I speak for the whole bunch here when I say we would love to see you and satisfy your belly rubbing jones!

Well, for the baby's sleeping arrangements, we're not getting a crib right away. I have my eye on a Graco pack n play with the bassinet and changing table in it. It's portable and it holds the baby up to 15 lbs (in the bassinet) and 30 lbs in the main portion. MIL has said they'll get the car seat / stroller we want (we want the travel system)....or the crib. Considering they both cost around the same, it'll depend on what deals I can find in NY.

I've already gotten some second hand clothes and a nursing pillow from a friend that I need to go through. I'm not fussed on getting things used. I mean, seriously....the baby uses it for such a short time anyway. As long as it's not stained or ripped.....

I have an idea in the works that might bring me out there soon. Not before the baby is born, but soon. I'll let you know if it can be pulled off.

You are one hot mama, Jenny You know - customs taxes don't need to be included when shipping to Canada if the package is marked as a gift
