ROFL @ Amy with her Fukitol pills! Can I buy those local? I think I need some.....or maybe I have been takin' 'em and didn't know it, cuz I have already developed this attitude with a few people......well with one certain person.......hehehe
Amy, can you eat rice? Just wondering since our pouches are twinkies. I have learned I can eat rice and it feels SO GOOD because I can actually get something solid in, but mad cuz I can't eat meat! Go figure....we were built backwards I guess. Just wondering if your pouch tolerated rice as well as mine does. I do mix cream of chicken soup with it or make it in some mexican dish, but have found it does well in every way except by itself. I know I'm not supposed to eat it, but when we can't eat what we are supposed to then we eat what we can.
We want a pic of Ran too Amy! I haven't gotten any from Shad, but he lost his cord to his camera, so gonna have to get a new one so he can send pics. I hear from him about every week to ten days now. The longest I went was two weeks and that about drove me nuts with worry! He seems so tired everytime he calls. He said they are just pushing them hard and working long days. He barely has time to eat and sleep. Atleast it will go by fast for him if he keeps busy. All in all, he says he don't mind being there that much except he misses us. So, that is good to hear. I want him to be happy if he's got to be there.

I talked with my Shad this morning and he was really sad and down. He didn't want to tell me too much because he didn't want me upset, but I told him it was okay to tell me some of what was bothering him because I could tell he really needed to talk to me. He has been seeing some very morbid things lately in Iraq that will stay with him throughout his lifetime and he is having a hard time dealing with them. I made him promise me if it became too much that he would tell someone he needed someone to talk to to help him straighten it all out. He promised he would. I told him he's going to have to find a way to wrap all of this bad stuff up and set it aside and let it go so he could come back to us and live in the "normal" world again. This one thing that has him down so is having to clean up an area of a bombing on Iraq people that he saw and communicated with on a daily basis and they called him by his name. It was children too. This is not the product of what our people are doing to them, but what they are doing to themselves and what our people are trying to stop from happening. It's just sad that our guys are having to clean up the mess of what they are doing and this is something that will affect their emotions the rest of their lives. He said it was the most overwhelmed he has seen his unit's medics yet and there was no hope for alot and that was the morbid part that really bothered him. He was not in harms way during this mission, but he had to deal with the aftermath of it and he said it's more horrible than I could ever imagine.
I know some of you do not believe in prayer, but the ones of you that do, please send some up for him so that he can be strong and get through these very hard times that most of us will never even have to imagine seeing in our life time. I just love him to pieces and wish so much I could take all of this away from him so he didn't have to deal with it. I guess that's the mother in me coming out. It reminds me of him being a child again and wanting to just fix all of his problems. I know this time I can't..... I hope his next few days are alot better so he can smile when he calls again.

Twinkie Sister, Hang in there.
I understand what Shad is talking about from living with a Soldier who has jumped into Panama ,1st Gulf War..and now doing Force Protection as a contract Soldier in Iraq / Kuwait.
Jumped meaning Ran was a Paratrooper in the 82nd.
Anyway, when we first got married , Ran scared the crap out of me.We were both asleep one second and in a split second Ran was on top of the bed , yes standing on the bed , in a defensive pose.Totally unresponsive and rattling off some land navigation codes When I touched his leg..He freaked out and almost broke my arm.He does not remember the incident at all.
He does not talk about the operations he has been inolved in.When he has too much to drink with his Airborne Brothers...things get very serious ..and I have over heard stories about Afghanistan and watched my husband cry with other grown men recanting their stories of War.
I am proud of Shad and all are brothers over there.
Hang in there my dear friend.

Trina and Van I want you both to know that I hold both of you along with Shad and Ran in my prayers. I can't even imagine the emotions that both of them must experience on a daily basis. They honestly both have my respect and gratitude.
