Default Update #2

DH called me around 4pmEST, 12midnight his time, and he is doing good.Very tired, he has only had about three hours of sleep since arriving in the middle east.I asked him how things seemed so far..He said pretty good..that he seems to like his "Partner" who is also an ex-Airborne Ranger and he got taken to Apple bee's in Kuwait Cityfor lunch.
He is eating better than I am, Nick,my son's friend and myself had soup and garlic bread for diner
Won't hear from him for a while , his details begin on Monday.

Thanks for the prayers...Everyday so far has been better than the last.

Thanks Again!

PS~ I thought this was a hoot, Asked Ran about his Company provided Condo, and he said he was disapointed in his room because there were "water stains" on the wall..made him feel dirty.Did he think he was going to the "Hilton" for a year,

Red face Sure wish DH was here~

What a day! I worked today and Nick was with his friend for the day.Well, I got a call from my son and he says,"Guess what?", I said ,"what?", "Mom, today when I used the bathroom , I saw hair!","Hair?" I asked him if it came out of his butt, not sure why I asked him that anyway I did.
Nick now says, "No Mom, the hair is above my penis"

You guys my son JUST turned 11 YESTERDAY...He is still a baby(to me)..They grow up so fast.

Nick proceeded to tell me he did not have any underarm hair yet.I said,"Great, we will talk about your body when I get home"**Didn't know what to say really**

I arrived home..he walks by and holds up the "HIGH FIVE" hand...we High fived and at the same time he says, " I got some hair down there"He is very excited

Not even a week since DH left our son is going through the change.Looks like Mom will be too.
On a side note, I thought it was cool that he felt alright even telling me about it.Is it strange that he told me?Feel bad that his Dad is not here but I just went with it.On my way home from work, I started to tear up.I thought back about all our talks as he has grown up thus far and all the talks yet to come.

Kids drive you nuts but you still love them to bits~

Spoke to DH for about 5 minutes yesterday, he said , his camp is so isolated that he may not be able to have Internet access.I'm freaking bummed.
Maybe he can get it worked out. That was one reason I told him to take it (The contract) because we would have the Internet...silly me.Hoping for the best.

Happy New Year everyone.

Crazy year ahead~

Wish me luck...

Awwwwe, VPA,
I think you are incredibly strong to take on this roll in life. The daily fear and worry alone make you steel-strong in my book. The day-to-day sorts of things you've been journaling about are the flesh of our days--the things that get pushed aside when limited contact brings you down to the bare bones of communication. You inspire me to keep going, even when I hurt, be it physically, emotionally, or spiritually. If you can do this, I can do my stuff. Just remember that you DON'T need to hide your pain, you don't need to impress anyone. Your street cred is high, Grrlfriend.

Feel free to pm me or call me if there is anything I can do for you--it would be my honor to help you.

van,
your words tug at my heart!... I sigh... I wish I had something to say that would brighten your day. I don't know what it's like to have a loved one go off to the other side of the world to fight a war that I don't really understand. Your story of your son confiding in you about such things made me smile, He's a man now! he probably thinks... You must be doing something right to have him talk about matters like that. I hope you write this one down in a journal so you won't forget later on in years. Kids say the darndest things!

Sleeping... I emagine will be hard for a while... you may want to get a note book and journal your days to pass the time. Later you will look back on those words fondly.
