Stay away from Venice Beach...okay to visit for a day, but not to "live" in while you're there. Try heading a little farther south to Manhattan Beach - there is a nice Marriott in Manhattan beach on Rosecrans Blvd...and you will be centrally located there to the touristy areas....

Good luck and have a safe trip

Figure out what you think you girls will want to do. LA is so spreadout that you have to take into consideration the easiest ways to get the most out of your trip.

If you are here for shpping for example, you could stay in la and do to the garmet district. It is filled with merchants and deals but it is not the conventional mall it is in the middle of blocks and blocks of office and storage facilities. You could go to redondo hills galoria which is one of the largest malls in the country. Too much to walk in a day. Or you could go the Beverly Center route and see where the stars shop.

Want to go clubing - go to santa monica for one of the liveliest crowds but be aware of your suroundings as it is also the largest gay community in CA. Venice beach has clubs that are fantastic but a little more pricy and if you are into the hollywood glamour then you have of course heard about the famous hollywood and vine.

If you have ideas I can help I know the area well.

I just booked a vacation to LA from NY for July and I booked with Liberty Travel and they set us up at the Los Angeles Marriott Downtown Hotel, It is rated a 4 star by Liberty Travel Standards and is only $129.00 per night USD including all taxes. They even could not believe the price. The address is 333 South Figueroa St. Los Angeles Ca.

Safe Travels,

PS; never been to LA before so I can only go on their word.

I am not implicating anything other then what I said be careful of your surroundings. If you are not comfortable in an openly gay club know where you are. It is easy to go from a straight club to a gay club and not know it for a while. There are a lot of straight people in the gay clubs. I have myself gone becuase I have many friends in the community. Just do not want anyone to be uncomfortable.

If you are staying at the marriot. You have a good shot of getting a little bit of everything in your stay. Will you have a car. Public transportation is not good here. But if you are taking it I would give you closer places.

Sorry - I was just trying to understand your statement - thanks for clearing things up (sometimes in "cyber speak" it is difficult to understand what one means without asking for clarification)...

I have lived in La County for the past 10 years and if you want to be safe stay away from Downtown especailly at night. There are a lot of homeless people and drugs there. It is getting better but it no pplace for women to be alone. The best place to part is Hollywood or West LA....Hollywood and Vine is great. The South Bay area is pretty good and Orange County and W. LA is great for Clubs and food. Just be carefully and make sure that you stay together. Every where has its rough area just dont be a "tourist".

Depending what type of enviroment you are into will determine what area to be in.
