Default When do you stop losing??

Hi all,
So now I am well past the year mark but I was curious to know when I will stop losing weight? My doctor told me to try to stop but I eat what I can and I have added an extra snack. I would like to lose another 10 pounds so I am curious to know why he thinks I should stay where I am. It's not like I am under weight. ANy ideas??????

Do you have any medical issues or problems? Do you have unhealthy eating habits or an eating disorder? If no, then you stop when your body is where it should be......at least that's my plan and opinion!

Then I say you are fine.....just my opinion. Did you ask your doc why he thinks that? I'd be curious to know. I do have goals based on doctors and charts, but as long as I am eating healthy and exercising, then I feel my body will come to it's "normal" weight that it is meant to be. Honestly, I make sure I keep my calories high enough that I don't slow my metabolism because I still enjoy eating. I guess the goals are a way to track progress for me, and of course I am dying to join the century club!!

You don't state your height...but as you get older...it's generally acceptable to be a few pounds heavier than for someone in their 20s. Also, a few pounds of weight is from teh skin and not fat...you may lose more muscle if you lose further weight, and that's not good either. Do you know your body fat percent? That will give you better idea of what your true weight is.

Get a body fat test.. you can still have excess fat and be in the normal range for BMI. You can gain muscle weight and lose fat weight and be even healthier that just a simple total weight number.

Lynne, congrats on your weight loss. Doctors use guidelines for weight, seeing that you are in a normal BMI, maybe thats why he said enough. From what I have read, there are fluctuations in weight +/- and since you are of normal size, his suggestion to stop will teach you to eat to maintain your weight now. I was told a 10lb flucutation at goal weight is about normal. Anything either side of that needs attention. You have been very successful and should be congratulated for that. Did you ask the doctor why he said what he did, maybe he can enlighten you.

Marie...good points on body fat. We talk so much on BMI and Pounds, that I forgot how important body fat percentage is. Now thinking this, I should have mine done soon, so I can compare the before (or at 14 weeks) and after!
