Default Thought I was going to die

Well I have been in terrible pain for the last week. My right side hurt so bad I thought I had a tubal pregnancy. I called the NP at my GYN's office and she wanted me in right away. Well I just started a new work assaignment and couldn't miss any time. So I went to urgent care after work on Friday and did the whole pelvic exam and peed in a cup. The Dr. was concerned so she sent me to the ER. I would spend the next 8 hours being proded and poked. Forced to pee in yet another cup and than finally dracula took some blood.
By midnight I had, had a ultra sound and a CT of my entire right side. I had been forced to drink that horrible glow in the dark stuff. They told me to take my time so I wouldn't dump.
So after all the test and everything, it turned out to be an acute UTI that moved into my bladder and kidney's. Thankfully it wasn't a tubal or my appendix. They said they look fine and healthy.
All in all it was really frightening not knowing what was going on with my body. So it's Darvocet and Cipro for the next few days.

Thanks,
My poor husband was a basket case. I made him go home with our daughter and my poor cell phone died with all the calling he did. Even the manager at the market by our house was scared for me. It's nice to know people care. My best friend was also worried.

It must be in the air...I have terrible UTI and kidney infection. I am on Bactrim DS and it isn't working well. I have been feverish and feeling horrible. What else? Just another thing to add to my life! I feel your pain.

sorry you are so sick. Bactrem is not a choice for me. I am allergic to sulfa drugs and it tends to have allergic reactions to people who can't tolerate sulfa.

What an ordeal. Very glad you are ok and that it is only a UTI....not fun, but much better than a tubal. Take care.

PS: the drink they had you drink, is there sugar in there? I always wonder about tests after WLS, what we can take, drink and what we can't. One that stands out is the glucose tolerance test where they make you drink glucose..this one if definately out of the question.

It was a little sweet, not too bad. I did make sure from the get go they knew I was a GBP patient. The dr. took great care and when they gave me my meds. He explained that by giving me the NSaid via an IV it would bypass my stomache and would not cause me any harm. The nurse even asked me about GBPS and I educated her quite a bit.

I thought I was the UTI Queen on this board???

Glad to see I was wrong, but I have some advice to any one who has them.

I am currently on provalactic doses of Macrobid. This has helped enormaously along with increasing water and no to very little caffeine.

Hygiene of course, wipe front to back and always urinate after coitus.

I realized recently after my t/t surgery that anatomically I am made with all my goodies very close to each other, there fore I will always be suseptible to UTI's. Lucky Moi!!

Hope this finds you healing and feeling better.

P.S. Katy, thanks for encouraging me to use Dr Bolitho for my p.s., he is the bomb!!

I have totally been itching with hives and I think it is from the medicine. It makes me sooo sick. I think I need Cipro. I never had a problem with Cipro and I had it several times since GBS.
