Default Gall Bladder thread again

Last Sunday night I started getting what I have been calling a "gas attack". It was pain in the v of my rib cage and also off to the right side a bit that felt like trapped air. I'd had these episodes with major pain before (3 times) and it began breaking up and moving through eventually... so I assumed, but Sun night it got worse and worse until I couldn't even take a breath without sweating, fainting pain if you know what I mean. I really tolerate pain well and I was scared!! Hubby ended up calling an ambulance and I went to ER. They were confounded until my blood relults came back. My pancreatic enzymes were at about 2250 and 1200? when they should have been at 135 and 45? They sent me to ultrasound and they found "abnormalities" in my gall bladder. Well whatever they found did not indicate an infection or the need for emergency surgery, but probably just that I was passing a gall stone. They sent me home with instuctions for follow up with my PCP. So I go there on Mon. and he gets all flustered at the blood test results I gave him (all new doctors for me since I just relocated) and sends me for more immediately. Turns out the pancreatic enzymes and liver function are back to normal... he suspects I passed a stone too and based on past experiences that I have done so before. I'm on a low fat bland diet till I go to a GI dr. and have more tests done to see what the state of my gall bladder is. I don't want to lose it. Who knows about Actigall (??) dissolving stones? I hope this is a route for me. I'm still having pretty consistant discomfort to mild pain in my right side just under my ribs. Is this a dangerouse condition? B/t mt foriegn military dr. and the ER I can't get many answers.

prior to surgery i had an us of my gallbladder and it showed i had stones...they removed my gallbladder at the time of my gastric bypass...i was miserable for two weeks, but now i think i am glad they did...as i understand it as least 30% of gastric bypass surgeries require the patient to have their gallbladders out within the year...wish you well....sharon

As of today a I know that my gall baldder is healthy but full of little stones. My bile duct is a bit enlarged due to passing stones most likely, and my kidneys have too much fat?? Post MO affects? NE way my dr's are telling me to lose the gall bladdr b/c of stones. It's a healthy organ!!! I want more options!

Check out the above link for more info.

Your choices are limited. 1. Have surgery 2. Stay on medicine for a very long time 3. Do nothing, hope for the best, try to change your diet, and have possbily more complications.

I had mine out at the time of surgery too. You will not regret getting it removed as from experience the pain only gets a lot worse. :-(
