I am back
Hi all, It's me Julianna. Long time no chat. I have been so busy and it's a good thing. I have finished re-locating to south Orange County and I am really enjoying my life.
To recap, I had open rny on 7/29/03. I started at 286.5 and decided that at 5'9" that 150 would be a great goal.
I finally stopped losing at about the year mark at 143. I stayed at 143 from August to about a week ago. Now I am down to 138. I have been losing about a pound a day again.
I wear a size 2,4,6 depending on the style (tummy skin gets in the way sometimes)
A size small top.
You can see the ribs on the front and on my back. Sometimes I am excited to lose more, sometimes I am scared.
I really never thought of this as a "problem" but my loved ones are telling me to stop now. I am eating lots of protien, then fruits and salads. I still don't tolerate sugar AT ALL, but have even started having some of the no sugar ice cream and other treats.
The plastic surgeon I saw guessed I have at least 10 lbs of skin to remove, but I need to be stable at a weight for 6 months. Well I remember Kelley saying once I would weigh 125 and I thought that was insane, that is what I was in high school. I am beginning to think she was right.
Should I worry? I am not surprised at the notion of dropping lower than desired then going back up, but I thought 143 was lower...
Anyway, your thoughts would be appreciated. I was reading some posts and it is nice to catch up with what all of you are doing.

maintaining weight
Julianna,
when i got down to where i wanted to be i kept loosing also. First I went to a nutritionist and one thing i found out is i had to eat differently to maintain my weight than to keep loosing. I had to add some carbs into my diet such as bread, pasta, etc. in order not to keep loosing. Also, i exercise every day so i have to have 3 meals a day plus 2 snacks a day. now when i say snacks, i mean 2 planned, healthy snacks. that seems to have maintained me and i stopped loosing, also plus the fact i am able to eat more. if you want to maintain, you're going to have to eat some carbs and maybe a couple snacks if you're exercising. i was lacking 500 calories a day and that was why i kept loosing. i would had been happy at 125 to 130 and i got down to 120 and i now maintain between 120 to 123.

Julianna,
First of all let me say WELCOME BACK!!! I miss you girlfriend. How's Kelsey and Larry doing??
I am glad you got your move completed and can't wait to see you again. As far as the weight.. congrats on getting to goal.. and then some
Your plastic surgeon is probably right to have you be stable at your weight for about 6 months because we all know weight does shift and it's probably best to make sure you are maintaining a weight before they start changing your body.
I don't have any good advice for you because I am nowhere near where you are, but I do wish you all the luck in the world..
Love ya,

THanks, it's good to be back!
Larry and Kelsey are great. I cannot believe how well Kelsey is doing in the new school, neighborhood etc. She is growing to be an amazing young lady.
I lost yet another pound yesterday. I was only weighing myself every couple of weeks until I noticed this drop, now I am back on the scale... sigh.
You would think the occaisonal combo burrito from taco bell would have helped me stop losing but NO.
I have been eating more carbs in the last couple of months. Bagels, cereal, some pasta and even some garlic bread now and again.
We'll see what happens.

Hi Julianna~
To have your problem right now... I am going to be 3 months out on the 26th of this month. My weight, although it's coming off, is coming off slowly. The inches are coming off too, so I'm happy about that. The day that I can write to tell you all that I've reached my goal, will be one of the happiest days of my renewed life!
As far as the weight and the scale, it might be easier if you continue to go back to only weighing yourself every few weeks. Funny...seems like we're on the scale to see how much we've lost and you are on the scale to assure that you are maintaining or maybe even gaining a little bit. The scale can become our enemy if we let it. Give yourself a break from it for a couple of weeks at a time. Hopefully that will help.
Keep us posted on your progress and congratulations for reaching your goal and then some like Christina said.

Wow, really 125? At 5'9'? I'm 5'3" and "ideal" is 120 for me. If bones are showing too prominently, it's time to find a way to maintain. Don't want another Mary Kate running around!

Julianna,
It's great to hear from you. I always look forward to posts from post ops that are 1+ years out. I look to you all for what to expect. You input is much appreciated and valued. I only hope I have the problem of loosing too much. I don't say that to minimize your concerns, I only say that because I would find that uncharted territory for me.
Congratulations on your success! Glad to hear that moving has positively influenced your family!
