Default I am a little bit embarased how to ask this question...

so here goes.

Does every one NEED plastic surgery? Or does it depend on what type of skin they have and of course how long it is taken them to lose the weight.

I have heard that there are some people that do water aerobics and that helps with the skin shrinkage, is that really ture?

I am losing slowly, well compartive to others. I am almost three months our and have lost 49.5 pounds, I am thrilled on one had that its working for , when I thought that it wouldnt, but doing it this way it allows my skin to catch up.

Is it really possible to have this surgery done and never require and plastics?

pardon me please if this has been discussed like crazy and I really feel it is a bizaro question to be asking in the first place.

Hope all Holidays and New Years were special for everyone!

Hope n for some answers

Plastic surgery is a personal decision. Chances are there will some places that could use a nip and tuck when you reach goal. But whether or not you feel you need surgery is up to you. Some people HATE their saggy arms, some people don't care, and some people think the scars from plastic surgery are worse. Anytime you lose a significant amount of weight, your skin will be a little lose. How lose depends on a number of factors, genetics, age, elasticity, exercise etc. Personally I do water aerobics, I love it, it's helping me lose, and if it happens to help my skin along the way then whooppee. I fully intend on having a nip and tuck, or several, when I reach goal... but again ... that's just me....

Responses to your questions will vary widely. Everyone's skin reacts a little differently, and people want different things. If I could do it financially, I would get some plastic surgery, but I can't do it right now. I'll have to work with what I've got... curtains!

I know I will have to have a breast lift...no doubt..even Victoria's Secect can't help.

I look awesome in clothes...my stomach LOOKS flat as a pancake...but when the clothes come off...YIKES!!!!!!!

I may look into a TT but I am 100% positive that insurace will not cover.

Arms look good.

Butt has a horizontal wrinkle...have become fond of it.

Thighs...not bad..should be walking more.

Over all..I think I shrunk very well.Peopel in my support group always ask what PS I have had.

I think it's all up to each person ,but it does seem to be the next step after such drastic weight loss.

Yes, many people and many opinions!

I am having P.S. in March, I will only be 15 months post op and trying really hard to get down to 165. I had to decide quick, because I have a hernia and they can fix the hernia with the T.T..

Insurance is paying, but like Vannessa, my tummy is flat in clothes but not outside, yet there is not much there. How did I get the ins. to pay? Lucky me, my P.S. knew that my particular med. group, does not require a phot, and ythe fact I lost 125 pounds was all they needed to assume I need it.

Technically, I personnally would not have chosed to have p.s. if it wasn't for the hernia.

But since I am I am going all the way with thigh lift and breast lift along with the t.t.!

Jeez!! I am nervous and scared like crazy!

By the way I worked out with a trainer the first 6 months, I think that really helped!

I was 230 and am now 138. I am kinda saggy in my thighs and arms but nothing that I would go through that surgery to change because of the pain and scars involved.

I have a poochy stomach but it is not terrible and you can't really tell too much with clothes on. I might sometime have the skin and fat removed (abdominalplasty?) but probably not a tummy tuck (where they go in and mess with the muscles etc. That costs more and is much more involved.

If I were 20 years younger, not married, or if the skin was causing discomfort, I would feel completely different about it and probably go for it.

It's a very personal choice. I looked great in clothes, but like a sharpei when nekkid. I was heavy all over, but the majority of my loose skin was in my hips. I lost some 4 inches and 7 lbs was removed for my TT. My TT went all the way around so as to lift my outer thighs. I also had boobies put in as my nipples touched my belly button. I had always maintained my muscle with resistance training, but the skin was still baggy. For me, the more toned I got, the looser the skin became. In women, it's impossible to fully fill out the loose skin with muscle, unless you take steriods and pump iron 5 hours a day! You can't predict how your skin will look when you're done losing. I have seen people who lost 150 lbs and need minimal PS. Others lose less and they are putting eyes out with the flab Money is a huge factor. It's not cheap to get a good PS. Age also is a factor...at 30-something, I still have 50 years of looking great before going in the box. If I was 60, I may not have done anything about the skin. Then again, I know 60 year olds having boob jobs......

PS...my TT scars in back are 1/2 -3/4 inch wide....quite unsightly...it's very common for TT incisions to come apart. Very common to get infections too.

i do not understand the difference between abdominalplasty vs tummy tuck - messing with the muscles in a tummy tuck??

well i am only 33 & i know if i get down to 115 lbs i will want to have my skin & fat removed from my tummy no matter how they do it ....

It is a personal choice. My stomach ws awful and I couldn't get a pair of pants to look good regardless of what I did. My bat wings are awful but I'm gonna live with them. I have had enough surgery to last a lifetime. A panniculectomy is flab removal from the tummy, a abdominoplasty (total) is flab removal and muscle tightening. I had the total 3 1/2 weeks ago and I'm happy with it. I have other things I could have done but nobody is perfect!
