Default 5 day pouch test.. starting Monday (advice, anyone?)

Cassie, LoriAnn and I are going to do the 5 day pouch test (yes, Josephine- you convinced me )

1st) anyone who wants to join in that is far enough out (1 year or more??) please post here in this thread and join the bandwagon!

2nd) For anyone who's already done the 5dpt, what were your favorite recipes?

C) Any advice you can give to someone whose never done it before? What were your favorite tips & tricks to get through the 5 days.

Website with info is found here:

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

(I know I'm a huge advocate for using the search but I didn't find any particular threads tagged so even a little mention meant it showed up!)

They have a great bean and barley soup recipe. The black bean soup recipe is also good, but not as good as the bean and barley.

I was afraid I was going to be hungry when I did it, but I wasn't. I made a big pot of soup both the first day and the second day and ate a lot of it. You can have the soup on the first two days when you're doing liquids. The last three days, I had plenty to eat. It was a lot easier than I had thought it was going to be.

You and me both girl. I'm going to need all the support I can get. If we have a plan and support each other, I know we can do it.

I'm reading the website now, starting on a plan.

Default DAY 1 & 2 info:

Either Bookmark or add to favorites for day 1 & 2 info here:

Here is the link to the d1/2 webpage:

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

recipes link for "liquid protein"
Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test - Recipes

Soup recipes for day 1 & 2
Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

There are also links at their website if you want to buy soup mixes.

Here is a link to my favorite soup ever- and it appears to me to be 'okay' so I'll post the link here- if someone whose done the 5dpt can critique it for me that'd be good. I already have the squash and beans though

Squash & White Bean Soup.

My notes so far:

We'll need a minimum of 64 oz of liquids

NO Slider foods:
Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

She does mention yogurt as a slider. grrr... Um.. this might be an issue for me :/

NO white carbs.

Reduce caffeine, but do not go cold turkey if you're drinking them (I don't)

Day 1 & 2:
Low carb Protein shakes, broth, clear or cream soups, sf jello & sf pudding.

You should NOT be hungry, as you can have as much of any of these as you wish.

Anyone want to add anything to this?

Day 3 down... doing good!

Here's MY invention:

Into my Magic Bullet:

little less than 1/2 full of skim milk
heaping tablespoon of canned pumpkin
1 scoop EAS Whey Protein
1 T sf instant vanilla pudding
2 ice cubes
add Pumpkin Pie spice to taste

Mix until well blended -- i.e. no ice crunching sounds

YUMMMMMmmMmMmmm!

Make it ahead and chill... sets up like a milk shake

...............
I made s/f instant pistachio pudding tonight, adding 4 scoops of protein powder. 4 servings... (cleaning out my pantry, discovering a stockpile of sf instant pudding)

Thanks Toony! That sounds yummy! That is exactly what I was hoping to get, experienced info

I'll be doing my shopping tomorrow to plan ahead.

I'm still finding conflicting info on the issue of whether yogurt, the way I eat it is considered slider food. Plus, she appears to be talking about yogurt before the greek style yogurt with tons of protein had become a common place food item here. Might make a post about that, and gather opinions.
