Toony- that is FANTASTIC.
Question for you, since you're in the midst (and my inspiration in this, even before this report!).. do you feel you are back into that whole "Diet" mindset that I'm sure you've done before you had surgery? And if so, does that bother you at all? (Shoot, I hope I'm not putting negative thoughts in your head that weren't there.. )
I mean, I thought, once I had the surgery, I wouldn't need to "go on a diet" again, just that I'd have my new way of eating and that would be 'good enough'. Clearly its not 'good enough'
And lastly, Toony.. do you find yourself wondering 'what if I keep doing this for a bit longer.. ?' I know it's frowned upon but how to you stop, when you see such fantastic results as above?
And Amy.. I'm not going to try to discourage you, as that would be kind of silly, given I have no control over the situation, but from what I understand, you are still in your active losing cycle and really shouldn't be undertaking this at your stage. From what I understand, it shouldn't be undertaken prior to a year out at the earliest.
Stalls are very normal at your stage, though.. upping your protein and your fluids is a better way at 9 months out to step things up.
Good luck, honey.

Kel, did you know they have a discussion forum on the five day pouch test website just for pouch test discussions? You might try posting the yogurt question there.

I think this 5DPT has not only reset my pouch, but my brain. First out of surgery, I was focused on what to do, what not to do, and it was WORKING! Over time, I've lost that. Wandering away from TT and the gym has also contributed. I know what I have to do...
Now that I've found a protein I like, I will continue on --- the pumpkin shake is delish... I'm sure I can come up with other concoctions to keep me happy. I bought the vanilla protein, figuring it would blend with more flavors than Chocolate... While I admit, I like chocolate.... I wouldn't be able to stand it 3-4 x a day!
Diet Mindset... yeah, but it really is a lifestyle. My brain just has to get with the program... I'm sure "real food" will creep back in, but now that I'm focused and stepping on the scale daily --- I'm optimistic that I'm back on track. I can't be the only one here on TT who gets stuck in Twoterville forever!!!!
This surgery was an amazing GIFT to me and I am so appreciative... Bending the rules as I've done is disrespectful to the team that got me here and to my own (precious) body...
Soooo glad I did this!!! Can't wait to hear how it goes for the rest of you!

Katie that sounds delicious! Sadly for me, the 5dpt has reaffirmed my hatred for "fad diets" as this is one too. It always works for a short time, then i gain the little weight i've lost from it anyway. I'm on another excersize roll but go head woman woohoo!

Coming from the woman who wanted to do a celebrity fad "cleanse" that's pretty ballsy to say.
5 day pouch test isn't a fad DIET, but okay.

Me. I'm in. 15 months post-op. Monday sounds great. I joined our Athletic Club today. Lap swam for two hours. Heading back tomorrow. Can't wait to see where I get.

Good luck to all of you lovely ladies starting (or continuing) your 5DPTs!
I would just like to point out that the 5DPT was never intended to be a "fad diet" or even to cause weight loss during the five days (although it usually does) - it's supposed to help WLS patients get back on track with their healthy post-op eating habits, re-emphasize proper portion sizes, and break the simple carb consumption (or addiction ) that so many fall prey to.
It may be good for breaking a long plateau, but it's really meant to get people to follow their programs again long-term. It's not necessary to follow the 5DPT's restrictions for more than five days, but if people go back to their poor eating habits after they finish, it defeats the purpose of the pouch test and they will definitely regain weight, just as people do after suffering through actual "fad diets"...
