Beth, I have to say I'm smiling from ear to ear about what your surgeon said! I think your dream is very close in sight and I'm so so so so happy for you!! You deserve it!

I'm sorry to hear you're still sick, I thought since we hadn't heard much from you that you must be feeling better and out there enjoying life. I hope he finds whatever it is and fixes you up and you feel a lot better soon!

Lynda, Andie, Josephine and Corrine-thank you so much for the continued thoughts and prayers. My gut feeling is that I'm dealing with an ulcer. I've been on preventative ulcer medication for the past 5 months though. I'm just glad there is a scope scheduled. Down side is I have to come off my Coumadin for 5 days before the scope so I'm kinda starting from square one again in regards to the liver vein blood clot. It took me almost 4 months to get therapeutic, hopefully it doesn't take that long again. I was so ready to get rid of those weekly lab tests.

Josephine, thank you for sharing in my joy hun. I really needed to hear that they were still interested in me. I've wanted this SO bad for the past 3 years and I've worked so hard at showing them that it would be a positive move to hire me. I think I have showed them how important the possibility of a job is to me with leading one of their support groups, working extra hours on the bariatric unit, spending a day observing surgery with my surgeon and now I am looking at getting my certification in bariatric nursing. There are only 2 nurses in this area who have their CBN so I think it would really help me in what I hope to do with my future.

One other WOW I did get the other day was seeing that my surgeon's practice has put into place a suggestion I gave them a year ago. It has been very important to me to see a mentor program start up in their practice. It's something I have discussed with them for over a year, so to see it get up and running is very exciting to me.

Thank you, Josephine. You are a sweetheart.

You know people ask me what the most exciting thing for me has been after wls. Besides my health what I always tell them is that I dare to dream and to go after those dreams. I struggled with mo my entire life. And though I had dreams I never believed most of them could ever come true. One day I honestly just stopped dreaming because it hurt so much to feel that I would always fail. I figured I had obtained all the dreams I ever would. I had a loving husband, 3 fantastic daughters and a job I loved. What more could I ever want? So I stopped dreaming for more. I now dream again and I have faith in myself that I can obtain those dreams. It really is so exciting for me.

So Josephine, my dear....what are your dreams?

I hope your doc gets this figured out soon Beth, and gets you on the way to recovery.

I wonder if your doc knows what a gem he's passing up by not hiring you?

awww thanks Sherry. And he knows. It really isn't that he is "passing me up" its more that there just isn't a job right now. He's already told me 3 different times over the past 6 months or so, that he hasn't forgotten about me. It's encouraging to me that he actually brought it up on Friday without me asking about it. I've found my ways to make sure he has a bit of an idea how I'm keeping myself busy. I send out monthly emails to my support group members and not only do my members read my emails, my surgeon and the behaviorist do too. I wasn't sure if both of them just filed them away in the trash when they got them but I know otherwise now. They most certainly read them. So in some way I've been doing a monthly interview with them. I've also got patients who I have taken care of on the bariatric unit singing my praises to the surgeons of that practice and the PAs. So I'm sure I will at least one day get myself an interview. And besides, I keep showing up on his OR table and at the end of his scope. *L* I'm kinda hard to ignore.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Beth! Here's hoping that one of the other nurses quits, get fired, retires, or something similar!

Make sure anyone out there knows that you also have a whole online community who respects and values the support you provide. You are a natural and it is just a matter of time before you are in the right spot. Between your own health and the wedding, now is not that time...yet!

Anyone is free to send a little email to Grand Health Partners on my behalf. Let me provide you their website! Weight Loss Surgery Michigan, Weight Loss Surgery MI

I'm not serious but if I ever do get myself an interview anyone can feel free to put in a good word for me. All of you along with my support group probably are my best references.

I know right now isn't the right time, Ardita. I really do need to get myself feeling better so I can give all I really want to give. Right now is the time for me and my daughter.

Sherry, there is one RN who is gettin' on up there in age. *L* I think my best hope though is the new surgeon coming in September. He doesn't have a nurse yet.
