Default Variety?

I was talking to a friend who also had Gastric bypass and she was telling me that when she told her doctor what she ate on a daily basis he responded by saying "you don't have enough variety of foods which will lead you to get bored and you will cheat and go back to you old eating habits"

SO...I have been thinking about this!!!

Before when I was on "diets" I always ate the same things and tended to get bored! Hence the eating and failed diets! I think about myself as being a person who eats ALOT of the same foods everyday....I am still working on the "brain surgery" part of this journey and I don't want to get "bored" and go back to "old eating habits"
My questions is....is there are long term maintainers that do not have variety in there food? Do you feel like you alot of different things than before surgery? I am trying to mix things up a bit in my food choices but I am still in the trial and error stage of eating! Any thoughts?

I've said this before. i get on kicks with food.. once it was crabcakes... then it was clams... then tilapia.. when i first had the surgery.. it was stuffed mushrooms and mostly ate the mushroom.

Sometimes your body can't handle one food it could handle last week.. sometimes you crave a certain thing. I don't know what it is... but this weeks food: steamed clams.. mmmhmm.

I don't agree w/ the surgeon, but then again i'm not gettin paid the $$.

I'm almost 18 months out but certainly, before WLS I ate the same old stuff - and a lot of it.

During my pre-op classes, we were told to make an effort with every meal and snack if possible.

Sit at the table, have a pretty saucer or dish and make it look attractive and colourful and to take our time over it.

Even if I just add a small mixed salad - I like to put some effort and thought into what I'm eating now.
