Default long term labs

I wont be going back to my surgens office for personal reasons. I know what lab tests should be done but how often and for how long? I can get my PCP to order them.

I still have my lab request...this is what it says...
CBC, Full chem panel, Lipid Panel, Iron, TIBC, B-12, Liver Panel, and Beta Carotene (above this is non-recognizable, maybe fractromate? trachromate?)

Every three months for one year.

Best of luck!

I was told it's a good idea to check every 6 months for life as always at risk for malnutrition.

I would ask your regular doc if he/she could find out what needs to be checked and how often. I go every 3 mo for 1 yr then every 6 mo for 1 yr then once a yr for life. My family doc is great! His sister had wls right after I did. He had been researching for her for a couple of years so he really knows what is going on with me. It is just a weird coincidence, but it has really worked out well for me. He knows exactly what I can and can't take (med wise) and how my digestive system functions now. You may be able to find a doc who is really up on wls. If you can, it'll really be great for you. Good luck. Sorry I can't offer better advice!

Arrow Labs

I'm really paranoid when it comes to lab work. I got labs done every three months for the first year. I plan to have them done at 18 months and 2 years. Thereafter, it's once a year for life. If I start to have any symptoms, I will get labs done as necessary. One of the most common side effects of WLS is malabsorption issues. The way to find out about any problems early is to have regular lab work done. My best advice is to be diligent with your labs long-term. Good luck to you.
