How did you all get so small. That's one reason that I feel like a failure because I did not reach my goal. I started at 333 and got down to 190, now I'm up to 220 . But reading these profiles will be good for me and I feel they will help me get back on track to start to lose weight again.

Hey Theresa....welcome to the board! It was funny just now when I reread this thread....because I was still deciding about plastic surgery....and now I am 10 days out from it. But first off, give yourself some credit for your huge loss! That is a big, big, change for you. But the answer to how I got to goal is simple, but complex. The simple part is that I continually evaluated my habits, my motives, my health, and the basic rules. The complex part is that it's hard to find a balance and keep struggling and trying to find solutions as you fight old emotions and food and life habits. But as my quote says, it's about keeping on. For me, it involved lots of soul searching, counseling, posting on here, food choices and rules, joining the fitness center, and just never giving up. I hope you can find some help and inspiration here to get back on track and be as healthy as you can be. Good luck and stick around.

I don't eat any kind of ice cream, cake, or regular sodas ever. I do drink diet coke but only after the first year. At first the carbonation caused me pain. I will still get some pain if I drink something that is too cold too quickly (like iced tea on a hot day...sometimes I just gulp it down too fast and I get cramps).

I was very pleased to read this paragraph because it is pretty much how I am living now....eat all the meat I want...skin too on chicken...but rarely do I eat carbs...i eat very little bread and potatoes now, or rice..etc...
glad to hear it can work like this.

Hey, my name is kelley. I am three years post op. Did you have any problems with regaining any of the weight????I find that I can now eat more and still have a real obsession with food. I am really getting worried. My husband bought me this computer so that I could join a online support group. I am really new at this and really new at the whole computer thing, so forgive me if I am slow.....

Kelley, I'm almost 3 years post op, and am going thru a similar experience. Thanks to an awful medicine, I gained some weight, but this week, I've gone back to eating cabbage, cauliflower, and fruit instead of the evil GS cookies. I've dropped a couple of pounds already! Yee haw. I need to deal with my food obsession too. I've got to say that support is essential -- and getting away from it has been my downfall.

This thread should be a sticky for this section. Everyone who is like 3-4 years and beyond can come in here and say a few words that may seriously help someone else.
This is a great thread.

Hi Marina,
I have hypothyroidism but I haven't has WLS yet. I'm still waiting. I have been taking Synthroid for this condition for years now. That is a very common drug used. It really hasn't help me lose any weight and does keep my thyroid within the normal ranges.
Like other posters, I'm glad to see that keeping the weight off after WLS is possible by your posts.
I agree with John above that this should be a "sticky". Maybe others that are out 5 years and more can post for us newbies. Just to have another bit of information for decision making.
