Default Struggling after 2 years post op

I had my surgery 2 years ago and lost 110 lbs. I haven't been motivated lately and have gained about 12-15 lbs. I am extremely discouraged and would really like to lose another 35 lbs - but cannot get the motivation to follow the food plan. I, unfortunately, can eat sugar with very little problem and I am tending to eat constantly. I am even drinking regular soda again.... YIKES. Words of wisdom and encouragement are appreciated. By the way, can you actually "stretch" your pouch by overeating? I have heard conflicting opinions.

Thanks. Hope to talk to all of you longtermers soon.

Default Hi Patty

I too am a little over 2 years out and i am really struggling myself. I have put on 19 pounds and need to take them off. I am doing the samething you are. I know the plan to follow, but i can't seem to make myself do it.

I wish you didn't live in Ohio, because i would say we could walk together. But maybe we can keep eachother on track.

By the way I have been told you can stretch out your pouch.

Any time want to chatt just IM me.

Default Encouragement

Thanks so much for your reply! It's nice to know that I'm not alone! I certainly don't want to screw this up at this point. It truly is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Hopefully we can encourage each other as we go along and get this weight off and stop the old habits from coming back.

Life is too precious to waste it like this. We can do this!!!!!

Talk to you soon!

It's impossible to totally stretch your pouch out to any where near the size it was. There's some relaxation over time, but the rules still work. Search for Pouch Rules for Dummies on this site...it's good advice no matter how far out your are. Get back on the wagon. Don't spend time beating yourself up. Go back to the basics. Get back on the good foot!

Patti and Sindi,

I just have one thing to say. Get to a support group and be encouraged by those that just had surgery. There is something inspiring about being around new surgery people. Do whatever it takes to get motivated. Maybe a new exercise program. Or maybe the Pouch rules for dummies. What ever it takes. I know that you never, ever want to go back to the old you. Maybe that fear may get you motivated.

I have heard that it is impossible to stretch you pouch to the size it was but once in a while I hear stories that conflict with that. I was in a meeting once with a guy that was 2+ years out. He had gained back some weight but stated he was fine with that. Anyway... He said he could eat a 16oz prime rib with a fully dressed potato, bread, and dinner salad. That seems like quite a bit. I guess if he could eat a 21 oz prime rib pre-op then it would be ok. lol

I have noticed in the past 2 weeks that I have been eating more and that really has me scared. I am not going back to fat. I enjoy this size too much. I've decided to get one of the last photos of me at my peek weight and carry it in my wallet. Whenever I feel like eating a snack or eating too much at a meal----I am going to sneak a peek and hopefully stop before I start going crazy.

The idea about going to a support group has my interest, as well, anything we can do to stay on the right track, we owe it to ourselves to do----Good luck.

Through my experiences with therapy, I hear and have been told that putting the fat pic is no good. Put the thin one, the pic of you that says IM HOT in your wallet on the fridge... whatever and where ever. We dont do well with the negative, we flourish in the positive.. so put up the pics who you identify with today so be a positive reinforcement to stay on track. just my 2 cents, hope ya dont mind them! Good luck and best wishes always!
