Dawn,
Several places on the forum is an article called "Pouch Rules for Dummies". Read that, and it will probably help you get back to basics. Protein first, veggies second, fruit third. Don't drink during your meals, etc.
Good luck. I'm 9 weeks out today, and I feel the way you do. I don't want this tool to fail.
Hugs, and feel free to post anytime!

I had a conversation with Kelly about water logging that might be helpful here. She said it's recommended for people more then 9 months post-op who have stalled in weightloss or had a weight gain. The idea is that you drink water 30 minutes before each meal. A sufficient amount to fill full. She said it can cut your portion size in half, without you even realizing it because you'll feel full much quicker. She also mentioned to make sure you go back to not drinking during or immediately after a meal, as it will flush your pouch and you will be hungry again quickly. Just thought I'd share what Kelly said....

Thank you Nancy and Robin for your reply, I will definatly do the water loading, although it is very hard for me to drink very much in the way of fluids at one time. I think if I drink room temp or slightly warm water I can drink more, do you think drinking teas would be as good as plain water? I will catch up with you all later, I need to take a short nap befor I go to work, Thanks, Dawn

Hi all,
I am 5 years out on 11/8. At the 2 year mark I also had some struggles. By then the "magic" was over. However, I maintain a 114 pound weight loss and I am in better shape than ever. I MUST watch what I eat. The pounds will diffinitely sneak up on you. I still have "dumping" if I eat the "wrong" foods. It's my body's way of reminding the I didn't go thru this to go back to where I came from. I did gain some weight back around the 2 year mark. I have lost it again tho. I have to decide daily to be healthy or not to be. It really becomes that matter of fact. Healthy living does not happen on accident. Even after 5 year post op, I still must work at it. There is hope, it does get easier. Healthy choices really do become good habits if you just stick with it.

HIJACK: Thanks KMcGill
Thanks so much for your post. It's really nice to hear from long-term post-ops. It gives the rest of us so much hope! I'm only 17 months post-op and I've already learned a lot of what you mentioned. It's a daily choice to be healthy or not. So far, I'm maintaining my goal weight (fingers crossed).
Good luck to you for continued success. You're an inspiration to the rest of us. Please post again. We need to hear from you!

Patty, I am two years post opt and i constantly keep old pictures of me everywhere i go from the car to the refridgerator door. I do not every want to be 313lbs again so maybe if you look back at old pictures and clothing they may give you some encouragement. Also look at the type of vitamins you are taking you may have to change brands. Also try a walking buddy if motivation is the problem.
[
QUOTE=Patty Moser]I had my surgery 2 years ago and lost 110 lbs. I haven't been motivated lately and have gained about 12-15 lbs. I am extremely discouraged and would really like to lose another 35 lbs - but cannot get the motivation to follow the food plan. I, unfortunately, can eat sugar with very little problem and I am tending to eat constantly. I am even drinking regular soda again.... YIKES. Words of wisdom and encouragement are appreciated. By the way, can you actually "stretch" your pouch by overeating? I have heard conflicting opinions.
Thanks. Hope to talk to all of you longtermers soon.
