Thumbs up WLS Angels ???

At one time on obesity help, I dont know if they still do it, they had an angel system in place. If someone was preop, they could ask for an angel. An angel is someone a year out who they buddy up with. The angel is the pre op's guide through the process and offers advice and answers to someone who may not want to pubicly have their concern or fear addressed. The angel is responsible for checking in with this person via phone or in person at the hospital to continue to guide them. Doing the same again when the new loser is at home. Also, the new loser can call the angel ANYTIME day or night if they need advice.

What do you guys think of this idea? If it generates enough interest perhaps John can make an Angel directory. Then those who want to be an angel can list their contact info in the directory and then the newbie can choose who they feel would be the best for them.

What do you long termers think of this idea?

I would have LOVED a angel when I went through my surgery!!

This is a GREAT idea... I can't wait until I am year out to play a part in this role!! I did consider all of you on TT my angels though... could not have gotten through all of this without all of you!!

Bridget, I think it is a wonderful idea! I think an "angel" or "mentor" is vital to a successful journey and am in the process of trying to implement that type of support system within my surgeon's office.

....so if John puts this suggestion in place you can most certainly count me in.

I'm hardly a "veteran" yet...but this is something I'd be willing to do as well.

It sounds like a GREAT idea! Kudos to you for bringing it up!

Sounds like an awesome idea to me. I could use some guidance, and at time encouragement.

Great idea! I'm hardly a pro but you can count me in.

I was blessed with having Claire (in Texas) - everyone should have an angel like her.
