Oo oo pick me! Pick me!!

my surgery is scheduled April 23rd

umm... (feel like I'm placing a personal ad LOL)

I'm a lesbian, been in a relationship for 11 years with my DP (don't know what I'm supposed to acronym her with). She's heavier than me although we're almost the same height. She has no interest in having the surgery herself and wants to lose weight by exercising and eating healthy while I do what I'm doing... (ummm, we'll see how that works..?)

I am not a part of any organized faith - although my partner is VERY active in her church - she's a board member. I do believe in a higher power and spirituality and respect the power of FAITH to transform lives. BUT I do things some people might be uncomfortable with - like tarot cards... so I think that's important to put here.

I have a dog named Zoe (1 year old) and a cat named Gracie (15 years old).

I live in Saint Louis Missouri.

I have a crazy schedule that changes every day because I work with families in crisis and see them when they need me to see them.. (I'm expecting this will be a big area I have to work on - balancing my needs and the needs of my clients - particularly in the area of maintaining a good water intake/food intake schedule as even now I struggle to "remember" to take my protein shakes with me during the day.)

I struggle with feeling anxious/worrying, feeling overwhelmed and stressed because of so many competing demands for my time. I am not very organized and this adds to my stress so someone who's good at organization would be helpful.

Always in my life a sense of humor and a good joke is one of the most EFFECTIVE means for getting me out of a slump or negative spiral.

blah.. anything else I should add?

I love this idea!

Hey Bridget.........first off...happy to see you posting again and sounding good. I think this is a great idea. We did something similar before. I think we called it a "Mentor". I enjoyed it, but my match kinda pooped out on me a bit. I think mainly because she was so busy with her family and life. I would love to do it though.

I'll happily pick you if you don't mind advice and lectures from somewhat struggling again to lose.

I'm a newbie peeking in at this thread as I'm just 4 weeks post-op and I would love if that system came to fruition. I'm actually in tears now thinking how lovely that would be to have someone to talk to (yes, a tad bit of an emotional day today, lol)

Bridget,
It was nice to see you at Stacie's baby shower....you seem to be doing well. I hope everything is working out for you in PA. As for the Angel question, I would be interested in participating in such a program. At 4 and 1/2 years out, I hope that I may help other men (and women) achieve their goal. As the old timers in Alcoholics Anonymous say, the Newcomer is the most important person in the group. Helping others and doing service is what keeps us sober, and I believe that helping others with walk the path of WLS will help us oldtimers stay on track. This is a great idea....please let me know what I may do to help. Thanx!

We havent met but it's very encouragign for me to see someon that is 4.5 years post op and still doing well. Thank you for coming back on the board even if it's just to say hi.

My belief in this surgery has been sorely tested with all my complications and the some ofthe horror I've been exposed to on the other side of WLS so seeing you post helps with perspective.

Paige

Hello everyone,

I just found this forum today, and I'm so glad I did! After almost 16 months of waiting, appointments, testing, more waiting, having surgery scheduled and then cancelled, more testing and appointments, I am now 2 1/2 weeks away from my re-scheduled lap RNY on April 30th. And for the first time, I'm starting to get nervous! I guess after all this time, it's starting to seem very real. My surgeon is supposedly one of the best, so I'm not so worried about the procedure itself, more about the permanent lifestyle changes this will require of me.

I definitely intend to use this forum as a resource, but an angel or mentor would be wonderful as well!! I have a question about something that's weighing on my mind, but I'm not sure it would be appropriate to ask in a general forum.

Glad to meet everyone -- you are an inspiration!
