Addictions

I am absolutely amazed reading about all this codependency stuff. Its almost like I am addicted to this website!!
I got pnuemonia and pluerisy in November 2006, and was in hospital for some time, so I was up against it really to quit smoking. I was on oxygen 24/7 so I had no choice. I felt so ill, I knew the smoking had to stop.
Then I was discharged from hospital, but 2 days later collapsed with breathing problems..rushed back to hospital with several blood clots...very ill by now. Had to go on warfarin (anti coagulant) and give up alcohol as well. So, now theres 2 addictions I was fighting against.
It took almost a year before I felt reasonably well again, but I had switched my addictions (which were food, cigarettes and alcohol) even more to food....hence I am now huge? Awaiting a gastric bypass.
I am really worried about how I will cope once the food addiction is taken away from me. I have to go through with the op as my health is so bad carrying all this extra weight around (at least 140lbs overweight). What will I turn to next? I must be of an addictive nature. Or a codependent of food? Not sure how that is said..of food...on food...with food?
Does anyone know if food is truly an addiction or not?
How will I cope after the op? What should I put in place to stop me returning back to my old addictions?
Please offer me some guidance on this, as I am really quite anxious about how I will cope emotionally?
