Default Keloid Scarring and Strictures?

Have any of you that tend to keloid or hypertropic scar, are you also prone to strictures? Just doing some research? Trying to plan in advance for SWMBO!

I get keloid scars but have not had any problems with strictures. I am 2 1/2 years out.

Thanks V. I have been quietly mildly concerned about this for SWMBO!

Lightbulb Keliod "Scarrer" here

Hi Jim/Sandy

I am a keliod "scarrer" and my laparoscopic scars are nice little red bumps (they were quite sensitive until about a month ago but now I don't feel them anymore) instead of the thin little line that I've seen some of Dr D's patients brag with - he uses internal stitches to close us up with.

Only 5 months out and no strictures yet - fingers crossed

Inform the surgeon of this and perhaps he can make the anastemosis (is that what the exit into the small intestines is called) a little larger - I know our Dr D does this as standard practise (to prevent strictures)

Thanks Gwennie - her Pre-Surgery appointment is next Tuesday - we will gat a date then and I will talk to him about it. This forum has provided so much more knowledge for myself, than I had prior to my WLS. I am so glad I am here!

We're glad you're here too Jim.... We give you a lot of "CRAP" - but that's cuz we love you so much... SWMBO is very lucky to have you holding her hand through this journey... Not only have you been there yourself, but you've done so much research and info-seeking already! I love how you're checking out all the details on her behalf... It's nice to see a hubby so involved!

HUGS!

Well Jim, I'm a stricture Queen...(one of), and I don't scar..keloid or otherwise. I had multiple stricture problems, however it was due to healing too quickly not keloids.

Thanks Laura - I can't find any relationship between the two. SWMBO says I am being overprotective, I just want the WLS to be as positive for her as it has been for me!

Jim,

I scar very badly...raised and purple. I ended up with a very enlarged stoma, so...no connection here.
